Fair point smelly. You might argue that at the time Kaepernick was playing pretty close to an elite level, though he has since came back down to earth. Brees will put our DB's to the test, but he would have done that anyway. The point is the drop off from WTIII to Maxwell and Lane is minimal, and once we are past Brees we face this year's version of Kaepernick, this year's version of Eli Manning, Kellen Clemens and Carson Palmer. Not what you would call a murderer's row.

Carson Palmer just put up 40 points on Indy. Clemens also had 40 points today. Out team will likely be back to barely winning...hate that feeling almost as much as losing!

Pete and John had to know that this was "going down" for the past two months. What is with the "drug mentality" of our young players? Recreational drugs always pay a "low dividend". When will these players ever learn?

This sucks for 2 reasons.

1) Thurmond's been excellent this season.

2) The news released the pent-up angst of the board. Gotta have something wrong, or .net just can't be happy.

I'll be writing fiction. Taking a 2 year break from my current career to pursue a dream. I'll be moving the family down to a property of my in-laws this coming February.

Sounds awesome and I hope you'll be able to find what you're looking for.

On point though, so disappointed in WT3. Hopefully Maxwell and Lane are more then ready. We knew they're hungry, so here's there chance to step up again. At the least we should expect WT3 back for the playoffs and probably BB too.

Exactly, again an elite secondary allowing an opportunity on it, these guys are gonna thrive.

Awesome news. I say get him the hell out of Seattle.

Also Pete does need to step up here and do something about these suspensions. Whether it's peds or not.
Although It isn't Pete's fault that these dumbasses that put themselves ahead of the Team, I do agree that Pete needs to throw some cold reality at them.
These guys are making some stupid assed decisions that COULD destroy their careers, so showing them that the Organization has zero tolerance for this shit, by adding another 4 game in Team suspension, and an expulsion from the Team for a repeated second offense, should ripple through the whole organization, otherwise, there will be others thinking that they can outsmart the system.
Is the team allowed to further punish Walter under the CBA?
If players get caught doing something illegal, I would expect that they can fire his ass from the team, or do something less drastic, like sitting him out of play.
They don't HAVE TO play any player, and the CBA doesn't have control over who plays, or who rides the pine, because they could just say that his replacement warranted more playing time after the 4 Weeks are up, because he could possibly show enough to earn the extra playing time.
It's not the Seahawks fault that WTIII screwed up, and it's obvious that Thurmond hasn't taken this seriously.
Yeah, some say he's only human, and being human, he's likely going to make mistakes, but to that I say, Thurmond had seen first hand how the League is punishing the guys that do that shit, including Browner, Irvin, and a few others, so ignorance isn't even an excuse that he can use.

Holy tap dancing Jesus Christmas on a cracker this thread has to have some of the worst over reacting and panty wringing in the history of the Internet. So a kid screwed up. Give him a break!

Secondary is deep as hell. Lane and maxwell are proven. Shead and Simon have TONS of potential. And it's not like he's getting the Pete rose treatment; he'll be back in a month. We'll be fine.

Shit, I think some folks on here could probably stand to smoke a fat bowl cuz yall be some uptight Mutual truckas...

It's always easier to throw stones at someone else's house.

The funny thing is hypocrites like this will be the first to throw stones at another teams 'house' when their player screws up but when our guys screw the pooch they will be eager to look the other way.

You calling me a hypocrite? LOL!

Yeah Palmer put up 40 against a 22nd ranked Indy D and 7 of that was courtesy of Andrew Luck, Clemens put up 42 against a 24th ranked Bears D (this aint your grampa's Bears) also 7 courtesy of the opposing offense. Don't tell me your scared of Palmer and Clemens.
I don't think the drop off from WTIII to Maxwell makes our top 5 ranked defense drop down into the 20's.
As for hating barely winning, come on man! This is the NFL! A win is a win.
I doubt the suspension even shifts the Vegas line in any of the remaining games except perhaps 0.5 to 1 point for the upcoming game against Brees because of all the overreaction from fanbases as evidenced on this board!

I will take Thurmond for the playoffs and a new contract. There is a Legion of Bitches in this thread.

I trust the front office to sign him to a heavy incentive type contract in the off season.

He obviously wanted to be part of the Hawks at some point. Of course, this is my hopeful speculation.

GO HAWKS!!!

My thought is yes, at one time he wanted to be part of this, but at this point he would just be a vet that got canned and brought in when things were tough with no guarantee he stays once the suspension is up. Maybe he overlooks the snub (which doesn't seem to match his exit from Minny) and comes in, if called. Guess we will see. I am skeptical.

Because he creates a atmosphere of leniency does not mean he is a cheater. Don't be silly.

Leniency, shmeniency, Where the hell do you see that Pete has "Created Leniency"?, and you call ME silly?

I don't really give a flying rats ass about what the Whiner fans want to use for their straw grasping excuses, but why would you say something that gives them an INSTANT of we told you so to run with.
Hell, I'd rather give them all a pair of scissors to run around with.

Stop. Just stop. You are being foolish. It is well documented that Pete runs a program that is player friendly and affords the guys lots of freedom. That does not equate to being a cheater.

Read more, post less.
Being player friendly doesn't equate to being called or considered to be lenient on issues like this.
Making a bad play or two is one thing Pete has been lenient about, but condoning the use of drugs?, I ain't buying, So IF as you claim, the players are reading Pete as being a dismissive, and forgiving chump, I whole heartedly disagree with your assessment.
And the theory that Pete gives his blessings on drug use by his players, is why some are considering him a cheater, so when you say that he (Pete) is lenient, and allowing players to pretty much do anything they desire, you are insinuating the exact same thing.
NOW, unless you meant to use another word, other than "Lenient"?, I don't know, but I can only go with the words that you've used in this matter.

I'm sure Thurmond knows he effed up big time, and I'm also sure if it hasn't gotten through in his head already, his teammates for sure made it clear that he hurt the team.

:34853_doh: What an idiot. This guy works so hard to get back healthy and finally prove his talent on the field and now he's done for 4 games due to pot. What a waste.

I wouldn't let the California Khaki look fool ya'. Pete is a guy that can relate to his players and is not above letting them have a bit of fun (RRR), but "lenient" isn't exactly a prerequisite at USC and certainly not the NFL. USC recruits high profile players, typically with huge egos. The fact Pete had so much success with those egos suggests he has a side he'd prefer the cameras not see.

Oh the irony. Your point is excellent, it just looks funny next to your Harvin avatar. You do know Percy is also a pothead, right?

Didn't hear people yelling for Sherman, Irvin, or BB to be tossed out. Lynch got a DUI which is far worse IMO because you are endangering innocent people but no one wanted Lynch cut on the spot........ Very interesting inconsistency if you ask me.
Good observation. Good job.

Well, to be fair, a line was drawn after Irvin-which was the last of the incidents he lists.

Players called a meeting and said no more.

And from that came the whole 'Leave No Doubt' & 24/7 deal.

At some point enough really is.
So, you're sayin' that Thurmond shouldn't get to use a "Mulligan"?
I agree that, Enough is Enough already.
Some believe that Pete needs to constrict on the players, so's to keep them from screwing up, and the problem with that is, these aren't a bunch of nine year olds, and Pete wasn't hired to babysit them outside the Seahawks organization.
These are grown up men who knows the rules, and sometimes just don't give a shit what anyone else thinks, once they leave for home.
I also have my doubts that few if ANY of them, call Pete and ask for un-related to Football advice.
