He isn't consistent enough. Even w a better line. Maybe w a dominant line but he isn't strong enough to rely on when you need 2-3 yards and the D knows you are running.

He's very good if not exceptional in space. But between the tackles and running through trash are tougher on him. Especially because instead of a jump cut he often likes to stop and dance near the LOS.

That play was doomed when it was called. The defense was completely amped up for a run play and pushed the interior and set the edges. You can’t run an off-tackle play like that on a short yardage ESPECIALLY when you have a questionable offensive line. Walker is a special talent we are wasting on piss poor line play.

When they lined up, the Rams absolutely stacked the box. It was obvious, from the stands, a run up the gut would be doomed.

I was hoping they were either going to try to hard count them offsides, or fake the run between the tackles, and have Geno run it outside, with either a lead block from K9, or with him trailing for the option to pitch.

The absolute dumbest play was the one they ran.

I thought for sure they would try to hard count them there, and if it didn't work, simply take a timeout. Why not? Even if they knew that an offsides would give them the first, they equally knew they had to get a good jump on the play.

I think Walker is actually the best RB1 for what this offense is in the running game. Our run game is set up by our passing game, not the other way around. When we get our passing game in rhythm and the defense starts spreading out, that's when Walker's moves make him most dangerous.

What he's NOT is a power back, though that made no difference on this play because the defense pushed our entire line back almost immediately.

But just because he's not our power back doesn't make him not RB1 material. Being RB1 means we want him in there most often, which we do. When our offense is on rhythm, what he brings is what threatens to do the most damage.

But even though he may not be the prototype power back, that dude still drove the pile forward with multiple guys on him at times. It's not like he isn't strong.

He's quick, he can stutter step..maybe break some ankles, but he couldn't run a power like ML could. We need a big quick RB1 who wants to play smash football

He is not consistent between the tackles and never has been. Sure we have a crappy OL but you can’t have as many short gains as he has.

Walker would be a phenomenal change of pace back but not an every down thumper

He has fantastic athletic abilities but he lacks football skills and football IQ. If he blocked or ran routes properly that pick 6 wouldn't have happened. (I know i'm going to get flak for this comment but please watch what he does on the play). He has huge potential but he needs coaching.

ZC was supposed to be the power back. In hindsight, I'm not liking where he was drafted. He's not a bad player, but maybe they should have drafted interior o-line in that spot?

It's not the runner, it's the OL, no push, they had the same issue with the Beast mode, which is probably why they chose to pass in the SB. Our OL has been one of the worst for the last decade.
