Voted.

But do people even watch the ESPYs? Serious question.

I only watch them when someone I like is nominated for an award. They're not that bad. And if Russ wins, that's just another accolate for his rookie season!

Looking at this objectively, Mike Trout should win in my opinion. The dude actually took 1st place MVP votes from Miguel Cabrera, who won the effing triple crown. His season last year was just amazing.

Voted. Chances are slim to none that he walks away the victor though. That list has media darlings, and most fans eat it up.

I'm voting for Wilson, but Trout deserves to win. He had, at least statistically, the most unfathomably great rookie season of all time in any sport. It was one of the five or six greatest seasons of all time by any player in baseball history based on WAR, with most of the others being from before the 1960s. Had Wilson played like he did after week 7 all season, he'd have a case. Manziel had a historic season as well.

@kearly: Had Wilson played like he did after week 7 all season, he'd have a case.

The voting isn't for who had the best season, it is for who had the biggest breakthrough.

Russell Wilson was handcuffed and protected by the coaches until the Chicago game, so he might not have had the best overall season, but by the end of the season he had surely made the biggest breakthrough.

I have watched the Atlanta playoff game carefully and many times over. (I recommend that others do this as well because that game shows the real improvements and breakthroughs of so many players, especially the offensive players: Russell Wilson, Zach Miller, Robert Turbin, Golden Tate and JR Sweezy. From that game, it is clear that the offense will be better than the defense in 2013.) The Atlanta game - the last game of the season - tells us more about the future of the Hawks than all of the other games combined, imo.

Russell Wilson was magnificent. From watching him in that game over and over, I am convinced it was not luck. It was definitely for real.

Wilson's breakthrough compared to the others is real and long lasting. He will be a star - one of the top three quarterbacks in the game - for a long, long time. He is very accurate and very clutch. Expect him to challenge the all-time NFL record for passer rating as soon as this next season. He is, to me, another Fran Tarkenton, who as a sub-six-foot quarterback held *every* QB career record when he retired - wins, touchdowns, competions, passing yards, etc - except Wilson is a better downfield runner and has a much stronger arm.

Wilson, compared to the other candidates for Breakthrough Player of the Year, had the biggest breakthrough because by the end of the season he had achieved a level far beyond the others that will likely make him an all-time great.

There should be very little doubt that Russell Wilson deserves to win this award. It would be a travesty if someone else won it instead, especially Colin Kaepernick.

Please vote everyday for Russell Wilson, *our* local legend in the making.

I voted using the link provided in the thread about this created Thursday.

That's okay, no problem with that whatsoever. We need to spread the word on as many places as possible.

Thank you for voting for Russell Wilson.

It would be great if the active tweeters among us could tweet the url to all the Seahawk followers and if everyone could retweet it on a regular basis between now and the end of the voting on July 17th. (I am not a twitter person. Every time I try using it, I get inundated with garbage. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.)

It would be good to get the radio talk show hosts involved (maybe through twitter). It would be an interesting topic for their shows to discuss who deserves it more, Russell Wilson or Colin Kaepernick (or someone else), and they could also encourage everyone to keep voting everyday.

or for a shorter url: http://espys.com (then they have to find the Breathrough Player voting page)

The 12th man needs to get involved.

Thanks.

I will vote. but I kinda don't want Russell to win, If he doesn't win that would be another log to fuel his fire for this upcoming season... scary!

Very good point. Also, the more famous our guys get the more it will cost the Seahawks at contract time and the fewer of them we can keep.

But vote for him anyway!

If all the 12th Man fans get involved, Russell Wilson will have a very good chance of winning.
