Very depressing reading this; we ended up with Davis

He's still the 3rd string on KC, he's playing because injury. And, you know what? TE's will always have inflated numbers playing for Smith...he's a checkdown dude.

Well he would have been a #3 here too. And it sounds like he would be great in that role with the way he has played. Much better than what we've had so far.

Because we have an Alex Smith type QB? Or, are Wilson and the Seahawks higher in YPA?

Not saying he would have the same numbers, just that he would be a solid #3 TE and an upgrade over Person or Davis. He has been a solid blocker (which be brought Davis in for) and he has shown to be a better pass-catching threat than Davis. There was no reason to cut him, we've been scrambling to find a replacement since.

I think Davis has looked really solid when he hasn't been making penalties. If the yellow hankies go away and he continues to avoid drops, I won't feel too bad about that switch.

You're dumb, obviously, look at McGrath's stats. Stats tell the WHOLE and ENTIRE story.

I rule!

McGrath was released because:

1. Seahawks chose to keep Bowie on the roster, instead of I.R., Person was the Band-Aid until Bowie was healthy enough to play. If Mcgrath was on the roster today, you are most likely looking at Person starting at RT in Houston, with Bowie losing a full-season of experience and growth.

Bowie > McGrath. Bowie could be the RT of the future. McGrath was never going to be starter material for the Seahawks in the next 3-5 years.

2. McGrath just wasn't a better receiver or a better blocker than Luke Wilson nor was he better than Cooper Helfet for that matter.

Over the off-season McGrath put on 10-15 pounds to be a more stout blocker but it came at the expense of what little speed and athleticism he had. And I was an optimist and believed in McGrath's potential as Tical would point out to you, but he was damn slow especially compared to Willson and Helfet.

3. Kudos for KC in finding a TE with the perfect skill-set to match Alex Smith's ability but I doubt McGrath would be as successful here especially when we needed a more effective blocker from the 3TE spot.

I considered him a near lock for the team. Still don't know why we dropped him to keep Person (or a few others) but hard to complain to much about a decision regarding a #3 TE with the way our team is operating everywhere else.

Stop looking in the rear view mirror. Look ahead. People learn from mistakes and grow, sometimes those mistakes get repeated and as long as we trust in the leadership he will be fine.

Again correct. The Chiefs are devasted at TE...why do you think they picked up McGrath? Especially given who their quarterback is? Seriously.

Personally, I dislike hairy men (sexually) and hated that beard. Obviously it's part of my penance until next week to see that offensive mess.....what? Ir costs a dollar to get home delivery razors correct?

Next you guys will try and convince me we won't be able to cover him IF we ever see him on the field when it matters.....?

It was known that there is going to be pick ups from our extremely talented waiver wire. Its no surprise that some turn out as real contributors. I would have liked to keep McGrath as well but this happens when you have too much talent on the roster in offseason. Positive problem?

I dont believe that Davis lasts in the roster for the whole season. But I'd like to see him prove me wrong. Nothing against the guy.

Sean was really productive and didn't make any mistakes? There are a lot of players that are gone that did this. He ran his routes great, always caught the ball and did his job. I say we keep these kinds of players, Sean was one of the the few players I wanted to keep of the pre season heroes.
