Julio and Polanco were 0 for 9
But are a huge reason they won those 2 games, and Julio and call were the only guy who did anything in game 1. And they still should have won. Wilson screwed them over by letting Kirby pitch to Carpenter. BUT.........the ump also didn't call strike 3 the pitch before.

Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed with those last 4 innings. The bullpen, which had been outstanding earlier, really let us down.

Wilson does have the tendency to pull starters early, but he's not the only MLB manager to use that strategy. No one throws 100+ pitches anymore. It's one of the things that's made it difficult for me to get re-adjusted to in the revival of my interest in the game. I'm used to seeing guys like Bob Gibson pitch 28 complete games and post a 1.12 era.

Having won 2 in a row, I was very optimistic prior to Game 4. Now, I don't know what to expect in Game 5. Thankfully, we have a day off to get that bad taste out of our mouths.

Or THIS:

Pull out ALL the stops.

No chance they pitch Gilbert in game 5. ALCS would start Sunday, if Woo is ready he can go game 1 and then Gilbert game 2. If Woo is hurt, we could do Gilbert and Miller, or Gilbert and a bullpen game.

I do think we see both Kirby and Castillo tomorrow though. If I had to guess, I'd say Castillo starts, goes through the order twice, then let Kirby do the same. Then use the high leverage arms of Bazardo, Spier, Brash and Munoz. Only reason for bringing Kirby out the pen is he did it before in the playoffs against the Blue Jays.

They've already named Kirby as the starter tomorrow:

But I do think you could be right about seeing Castillo fairly early.

Now, Mr. Wilson, IF HE GETS IN TROUBLE, BRING IN CASTILLO. I don't need your loyalty; I need you to do your damn job. You already cost this team game 1 with your stupid decisions.

Detroit has a real manager who actually understands how to use pitchers.

Mariners have a manager who gives away games like Halloween candy.

Prove me wrong Dan, please.

What is the earliest day the ALCS would start? Monday? Tuesday? It seems to me that you have a built-in number of days for pitchers to rest their arms before the next series starts. And it would be a seven game series. That's why you don't worry about tomorrow today at this point in the season.

I'm not necessarily calling you out for second guessing a manager's decision as I do the same thing from time to time. It's what fans like to do and what makes the sport so entertaining. But what we ought to be doing is writing down in real time when we think that a manager is making a bad decision so we can refer to it later and compare our opinion with that of the manager. Otherwise, our observations are a hindsight is 20/20 kind of thing.

I don't have a problem with how Wilson manages our pitching staff. He's a former catcher who has seen a lot of these decisions close up so this ain't his first rodeo, and he has a lot of information that's not available to us that he has to take into consideration when making his calls.

Like I said earlier, I still haven't gotten adjusted to these short stints that starting pitchers make league wide that has become the norm over the past 20 or so years, so I have to resist the temptation to complain about Wilson taking Miller out of the game in the 5th inning when he has yet to have given up a run and when he's thrown just 55 pitches. There's a lot that's changed since I was last super interested in baseball, such as analytics, information that we don't see that the manager takes into consideration.

I think I heard it starts Sunday. IF we advance, the format is 2 - 3 - 2

I think that's a huge for the M's.

It's all over the map with sports. Managers, coaches, etc. I'm not the only one who thinks he sucks with a pitching staff. He has cost this team many games, imo.

I wonder what kinda stats there are about managers decisions and their impact on the game, it’s easy to see when Dan makes a bad call but I wonder what his booting average is compared to the league
