They were starting to make contact against Miller. We needed to put in our best available pitcher we had there not named Munoz. That was Kirby. You had to play this game like it was the seventh game of the WS.
Wilson tends to yank his starters in the 5th inning on a consistent basis. He did that with Castillo on Sunday night. It doesn't matter if they are pitching well or not. He will pull them early.

The only way the Mariners can beat the Tigers on Friday is if they score more runs than them.

That was a down and out team, defeat was written all over them, guess what, they now think and have the confidence that they can win this.

Maybe should have brought in Munoz and let him go 2 innings.

Exactly what I was thinking when the game was about to start. Don't do anything normal. Don't play this game like any other game. Do anything and everything required to make SURE you slam the door shut on needing a fifth game. If that means playing some of your primo bullpen guys longer, who CARES, winning in 4 would have given them a few extra days of rest.

I must say, if the Mariners go then I go. I doubt I'll watch any game, just follow what happens and see who wins it. Baseball will pretty much be done for the year for me.

Man, that was extremely deflating for me. Bummed out and not feeling great about game 5. :(
Pretty much what everyone said after game 1. Last I checked we won game 2.

Honestly the game feels like a toss up. First to two runs probably wins the game.

This was my kind of thinking before the game started today. Put your best out there. I don't care if they're starters or not. Play the game like there's no tomorrow. As soon as Miller started to falter, bring in Kirby, bring in Castillo...it's the playoffs, think outside the box, get the W and advance.

Not me, man. I didn't say anything like that after game 1, and this loss feels way worse to me. A lot of reasons for it, but the biggest reason is that we were getting awfully close to advancing, up 3-0 in the fifth, the Tigers bats had done very little this series to that point, and then 2 of our best relievers basically melted down and the Tigers bats went wild. It was a laugher after the fifth. Game 1 was incredibly close the whole way, and ended up a 1 run loss in 11 innings. This game was demoralizing, to me.

I'm certainly not throwing in the towel or anything, but it sure feels like the Tigers are going to have a lot of confidence and a lot of momentum going into game 5 after that offensive explosion we just witnessed and having the benefit of one of the best pitchers in baseball on the bump.
