That's easy to say, harder for someone with social anxiety to do . . . after all, getting diagnosed requires the person to talk about their anxiety with a professional. If he hasn't already, hopefully Marshawn's family and agent can convince him to see a phycologist during the off season.

Geeez, layin it on thick here.

The underlying assumption I was challenging was the idea that if someone has a social anxiety disorder, then it should be easy for them to get diagnosed. Of course, they should get diagnosed . . . but that's not always so easy for the person to do. It's a classic Catch-22 because getting the accommodation first requires the person to confront his fears.

The more I think about it, the less I'm buying the social anxiety disorder possibility. This is the same guy who sat on a duck and paraded through 600k crazy Hawk fans while drinking Fireball and throwing up gang signs. If Lynch was a Niner, I'm sure A LOT of fans would be singing a different tune regarding all of this.

Because not wanting to talk to reporters is the same as beating one's pregnant fiance? Rape? Hit and run? Threatening someone with brass knuckles? Breaking a bottle over a teammate's head? A bomb threat? Etc., etc. :34853_doh:

Russell should write him up some platitude flash cards that he can read from:

-One game at a time.
-We're just playing for each other.
-They're a great team, I expect a competitive game.
-All the credit goes to my teammates.

Because hearing those things over and over again are absolutely critical to my enjoyment of the game.
I agree with the OP. Lynch is being an assclown....which I totally approve of!!!! I love your idea for being even bigger assclowns and having Lynch interview with Wilson there. Media asks the question, Wilson flips through his flash cards and hands Lynch the answer. Wilson smiles at media while Lynch reads the answer.

Lynch is making a point: The NFL wants them to talk to the media. The team insists on coachspeak, etc. Answers like One game at a time, etc. Anyone on the team who breaks those rules gets in big trouble.

So why the hell then insist on putting them in that spot in the first place?

Either let the players SPEAK to the media or don't make them set there and spew NFL nonspeak. Lynch is mocking the NFL, not the media. The mediots are too stupid to get it.

The BOLD is pure GOLD! Without MRob around anymore this would be epic.

He has in the case where he did the "thank you for asking", the "yeh" and the "I'm thankful". He has fully complied. As evidenced by no action by the nfl. The no shows were sanctioned and his appeal was dismissed. I think you have not actually read the media policy. They must make themselves available. Not make the media happy not provide answers in good faith. Nothing of the sort.
There are relevant things outside the media policy, which I did just read. Today. Between player contract language and NFL mandates, there's a lot the NFL can do should they want to.

If Lynch is faking the apprehension, trepidation and awkward tension during interviews, then he is a hell of an actor. I guess that's why he's trying to break into movie roles.

During his beastquake runs I bet he imagines himself being chased by 11 reporters.

Marshawn lives outside the Matrix. You letter-of-the-law types can be "right" all you want. Have fun living in the green data streams.

Exactly. I mean, growing up in his privileged life on the pussywillow streets of Oakland, who buy's ML's crap? He's clearly a thespian with his acclaimed roles in Beacon Plumbing Ads. His monologue in the commercial where he is pointing to his ring is legendary.

Dude...those are not gang signs. Read about his charity. Your post ls laughable.

Some of the replies in here exemplify one of the sole reasons I work for myself. There's some real live teacher's pet ass 'grown' folk on this rock. Annoying af.

I reckon, one poster must have all his workmates chanting "MVP Em-ploy-ee, MVP Em-ploy-ee, MVP Em-ploy-ee" as he sits, during overtime of corse, admiring his mural of 'Employee of the Month' awards. I'll just ask if i can SMH...

The NFL should just keep fining him. At some point it will become too much of a cost issue and he will act like an adult and fulfill his contractual obligation.

Well sure they could.....If they wanted to be bigger assholes.
Goodell is free to lie his ever lovin' ass off about the Rice incident, and because there's no rules for him to follow, he doesn't have to shell out any dough for it, nor does he even have to answer to the League, or the Owners eh?

Or, he can just tell the "NFL" (Goodell ) to kiss his ass, and retire away from the petty bullshit they are throwing at him.
AND, I would venture to bet that he wouldn't have very long before getting a job as an RB coach in a College or some NFL team.

The last great truly honest NFL interview was conducted directly after the NFC championship game last year and look what happened then... The national media tried to destroy the player... Including a LOT of fans on this very web site...

Damned if you do, damned if you don't...

Marshawns boss does, that's the whole bloody point. I don't get why people don't see this. Marshawns job isn't to decide whether he should be answering questions or not, his job is to answer them because it's in his contract and his boss told him to

I actually had something very similar happen to me at work that closely resembles Lynch's refusal to talk to the press.

I work for a very large company, some 30,000 employees world wide, and we have a company website that, among other things, has a section that has the profiles of all salaried employees, including a place for a picture. We are supposed to answer a bunch of questions about our background and upload a recent picture and post it on our profile page. It's a nice feature for those folks that are looking to put themselves in front of the right people as it serves as a resume, but I'm 60 years old and less than 2 years from retirement, so I opted not to upload my picture, thinking that any picture I have is my own personal property and if they wanted a picture they could find one they've taken and upload it themselves. I am not actively seeking promotion so I didn't see what the sense was in posting my picture on my profile page and that it was a waste of time.

Well, I ended up on a very short list that went all the way back to our corporate offices and before I knew it, I had both my boss and my boss's boss get into my face and tell me I'd better do as I was told or else. A small part of me wondered if I should refuse and see if they'd be willing to fire a long time employee over something as silly as not posting his picture on what is supposed to be our personal page.

Eventually I decided it wasn't worth it so I uploaded an old picture of me with a friend at a Seahawks game and it seemed to satisfy the cone heads. I can identify with Lynch and the rule he is fighting, but in the end, like me and everyone else that works for a living, he is obligated to do anything the boss says unless it is unsafe, immoral, or illegal.

exactly..

people who have issues with Lynch should have them with Wilson the same.

and lets not cloud this with "social disorder or anxiety disorder" comments. Lynch knows what he's doing. and i'm fine with it. i'd be fine with it if it was anybody. its as genuine as all the other cliche BS we get from those that do go to the podium.

this isnt a media issue, this is a fan issue. we dont want to hear our athletes speak honestly. when we do we berate and ridicule them for being unprofessional, antagonistic, cocky, and, well... thuggish.

so those labeling him "immature", ask yourself, do you really want to hear what he (or any of them) has to say? because when he's actually interested in the question, he says a lot.

But he is fulfilling it... He's talking.

C'mon people , The player's union negotiates the rules with the league- Whatever they are...All player's know this- When the Hawks were crappy nobody cared about interviewing our players..Now our players are in demand...Good God, this man is a star, playing a game he loves, and getting to drive Lambos and live like a king - And as a part of earning that fabulous lifestyle he needs to do some interviews..He IS immature, and he definitely IS selfish...You big talkers would all probably be willing to give interviews for 8-9 million a year..I know I'd gladly give interviews on the TOILET for that much green and so would you-
This reminds me of these idiots who say stuff like- "I'm not doing that , it's not in my job description" Let me tell you- Your job description is whatever your BOSS tells you it is...I love Marshawn on the field, but quite honestly I think he is a constant embarrassment off the field..He refused the ceremony in the White House with his team.... After the season was over he just wanted a little TOKEN for winning SB !! Why just HIM ?? I would call the ring quite a token, and ALL the team helped win it.. Not just him..I can't forget seeing him wandering around in his sweats with the hood up, sunglasses on, and headphones on full- Appearing at award shows where his teammates are all dressed up , wearing sweats and sunglasses. He stole focus from the team during SB week with his crazy behavior...
It's clear to me that Pete has cut him all sorts of slack as a concession to his individuality, and Marshawn has never been a great, (unselfish) teammate...If you can't, or won't play by Big Dog rules, then get off the porch- The End :stirthepot:

lol hoooooooooooooold up

Generally isn't that was the job description is? c'mon bruh.
