While that's POSSIBLE, I doubt it.

Teams can get him now with zero draft pick compensation and there is no contract for them to swallow. I don't see him coming back with no starting role and no 20+ mil contract from SF.

He will also be 100% healthy so there would be no lingering shoulder issue.

Never say never, but I'd be very surprised if Jimmy is back next year. Might require bad injury to Purdy that would threaten availability early next year.
If Purdy plays poorly in the playoffs, that could also affect the calculations on both sides.

Purdy will go back to being the backup should the 9ers fail to advance to nfccg.

If he makes it to Philadelphia and loses, he’s worth a 1 and 2. Double that if the 9ers make the owl and lose. If they win it all, ironically, I see them keeping both but with Lance as the backup.

So…where is JimmyG? Why isn’t he pumping the West tshirts that unlike you, Entitled One, he actually had something to do with?

Their wasting three first rounders willprobably Entitle Lance to start. Well let’s see if he has the temperament.

So 94, you’re not going to give this kid a chance next year? You’re gonna let him rot behind your shiny new toy that now has two years of rust on it?

Edit, sorry, you posted your message before me. But since when whenever Would someone not choose Purdy if he takes them to Philadelphia? He could. Very wily with the Hollywood move to Kittle, also with that long rush.

And plus, the poise.

I don’t see Lance making those intangible decisions as well...It’s historic that a rookie can demolish three teams in a row. Realistically with Lance, Id expect to see that talent emerge maybe a season and a half into playing, especially considering the draft class.

Trevor Lawrence. Won’t make the playoffs.
Zach Wilson, could be 2023s Josh Rosen
Lance, ???
Justin Fields, mobile and probably closest comp to Lance. On an eliminated team
Mac Jones, rounding out as an ok system qb who by himself can get you to about :500

You are without a doubt a 49er hater.
Where did the 49ers hurt you? Where did they touch you?

Draw a picture if it helps to explain your pain.

You have always sounded as if the 49er Ice-Cream Truck never stopped on your block.

...and what does any of that have to do with attacking Lances character for being at the game with his teammates?
We hate the Santa Clara 9ers on this site.
Maybe you're in the wrong place. They're going to be in salary cap hell soon so you better hope they get it done this year.

Why do you say this? They are going forward with 2 rookie QB contracts. The biggest free agent we have this year is Jimmie Ward who has been effectively replaced at FS by Gipson and is playing slot. Nick Bosa is a free agent in 2024, but the 49ers will have the space to sign him because of the rookie QBs. The 49ers 2023 draft starts with 2 compensatory 3rd rounders, but the 2024 draft they still have 1,2,3,4 . Christian McCaffery will be a free agent in 2024, but again this is when the cap space opens up

I think this is more wishful thinking! Unfortunately the 49ers will be a thorn in the Seahawks side for the coming years. It aint 2013 anymore bud!

See, I do not think it is so much about whether he wins or loses, but how well he plays. If he plays well but loses anyway, that is a different situation than if the rest of the team is playing well but they lose anyway because Purdy screwed up in the playoffs. In the latter case, there is incentive for the team to keep Jimmy G on the roster AND for Jimmy G. to work out a deal with them to stay there, assuming he is more interested in a Super Bowl in 2023 than optimizing his money. That is especially true if he figures it is just a matter of time in 2023 before Lance is injured (or screws up) and Jimmy G. is again called in to rescue the team. Ergo, there is a lot hanging on how Purdy performs in the playoffs.

Purdy has that it factor. For instance, that double pump fake to Kittle would Have been successful even against a good defense. These multiple darts to cmc. Even elite game management is a skill, and Purdy is contributing beyond that Far beyond any of the first rounders in that 2021 draft class during Their first experiences on the field.

Criticisms about Lances accuracy, happy feet, technique showed up after he had the same amount of games. And they lost. Even if Trey turns out to be Fields, it took Fields a year of mistakes.

Your salary cap is decent for 2023, but in 2024 and beyond, you’ll have to trade more High end players to avoid A Rams free fall.

Maybe he wants to listen to the play calls and help Purdy and the coach? I am actually impressed that he is travelling with the team, he could be in Mexico by now

It is entirely possible that Lance will have a career path like Fields. It was clear in their game with the Bears that they plan to use him a lot as a runner and do RPO's, etc.

As for Purdy, he has played well so far, but the playoffs elevate the pressure on every QB, particularly those who have limited NFL experience and zero playoff experience. He may nonetheless do well. If he does, Jimmy G. will be gone, Lance will be the starter in 2023, and if Lance does not show progress, the SF fans will stir up a QB controversy of epic proportions.

JimmyG is a free agent nonetheless. I see him going to Jets or indy as a bridge qb regardless.

But does he want to be a "bridge QB" somewhere or does he want to put himself in position to lead the 49ers to a Super Bowl in 2023? I think there's a 50/50 chance he stays in SF if that is what he wants, and the willingness of management to keep him is greater if Purdy flops in the plalyoffs.

I hear you but SF already played their hand regarding what they thought of jimmy G. Would you stay ? That's about
The biggest slap in the face you could give a QB.
They're stuck with Kyler Murray 2.0

It was all about the money with Jimmy G. His cap hit came down from $27 million to about $9 million. If he is still willing again to work “cheap” (by QB standards), they may still want to keep him around for insurance if they lose confidence in Purdy after the playoffs. I still say the final outcome depends a lot on Purdy’s playoff performance.

LOL. "Salary Cap Hell".

Cap is about to explode and they'll have 2 QBs on Rookie contracts.

Your comment is no more than wishful thinking. 49ers weren't built like the Rams.

Marv, if Purdy advances past The divisional, what do you think Kyle will do?

If he gets to that point, someone’s offering him between the McCaffrey haul and the Lance haul Of draft picks for Purdy. He can keep Purdy regardless...but

So far he has performed with all sorts of rookie mistakes. Based on his own draft class, it could take a year or so to know. they could qb2 Purdy as they did Garopollo. Think they will?

Sure you have 2 quarterbacks on rookie contract that totaled 3 firsts, a third and Mr irrelevant. Purdy is decent. Great mechanics, can make throws downfield and opens up the playbook. With Trey Lance it’s like watching a really bad version of Spencer Rattler but at least Rattler has played P-5 ball
