It's fun to rib 94smith and Marvin, but they do both bring valuable viewpoints and info to the board.

I have been given a heads up by the powers that be at .net that you are one of the few longtime rival posters that is courteous and respectful in their discourse.
So let's not mess that up Marvin.
I thought you were a stray dog that rolled in crap and got tied up on the far corner of the property while we waited for the owner to claim you.
I stand corrected, apparently you have achieved some level of standing and 'somone' in here is worried that if sent to the shelter, you'll be put down.
Tread lightly my friend.
Why are you trying to pull his chain?
He's always been pretty mellow, not trolling anyone, yes, he's a fan
of another team, we have a few of them, but you missed the ones that
really were trolling before you existed on here.

Honestly the funniest part of that exchange to me is that he told me to tread lightly. LOL.

I'm nobody. I'm just a football fan on the forum of a division rival...

...but who does he think he is exactly to be tellin' me to tread lightly? LOL.

I'm glad the 49ers are having to deal with the question of how to pay Trent Williams and what to do when he's gone.

The 49ers got a real steal when the Commanders traded him for a third and a fifth back in 2020. Another example of what a terrible franchise the Commanders were under Snyder.

Ok sport, you do your hand holdin' & 9er kowtowing laced with assumptions. I've got friends and family who are big 9er fans and always thought a little sarcasm & good natured banter was all part of the rivalry. If I made a satelite camp in a 49er forum I would expect as much.

I don't see the harm in reminding them where they are at periodically, if done in a sarcastic, good natured way it's actually a form of loose acceptance. No harm no foul.

Lastly addressing your "before you existed on here" comment. Not that it matters but my start date was in 99' after a year of lurking while on the seattlepi message board talking about Dennis Erickson and V. Testevredes helmet crossing the goal line & such a year before .net was established. I doubt many remember the PTBAA and Rally threads and early dial up internet Hawk conversations.
Moving, forgotten passwords and intermittent sabbaticals can be reminders that this place can be at times be a huge waste of time.

Having been a huge Seahawks fan since 76', I find the teams importance as entertainment has lessened in correlation with how much $ the players make. That's just my take, along with occasionally ribbing opposing fans.
I was glad my Dad got to see the Hawks win the Super Bowl two months before he died in 2014. Now somehow, as much as the Seahawks have much become a surprising league force, they've kinda morphed into a pleasant distraction to more important and pressing world happenings.

At least for me, no amount of Lombardi's could replace those early days of watching the fledgling small market Seahawks while a much younger father & son were living in simpler times.
Sorry for the rant, probably need a break from this place.

Marvin is ok but other salty sixty niners like to come in and try to say they beat us healthy week one without taking into consideration Emmanwori was out and it was a lucky fluke fumble at the goal line that won you the game. A game that never mattered in the grand scheme of everything. We like our squad. And stop acting like a 33 year old Mike Evans will close the gap.200Purdy was running for his life for 2 straight games including the playoffs and your healthy offense couldn’t score a single touchdown and we packed your fudge for 11 quarters of football.

I understand that point of view but fans need to remember that trades are for player contracts rather than players. A great player with a terrible contract has zero trade value. Teams couldn't trade Murray and Tagovailoa because of the contracts. The 49ers would struggle to trade Williams now because of his $33M contract, hence the thread title of him being a possible cut.

Makes sense, but they won't cut him. Releasing him provides minimal cap benefits so they are better off just keeping him.

Given they are fans of that team and support them just as we do, it is the foundations of discussions, being able to agree to disagree with some fans rather then attempting to see our side is part of balancing the discussion table, that and having a thicker skin when they say something we don't agree with and offer a counterpoint.

Our fans can be just as abrasive as we perceive them.

Exactly. It feels like they over extended Williams one too many times and will be paying him well into his 60’s Bobby Bonilla style. Their roster has a number of poor contracts like Brock Purdy at $53 mil per.

Not suggesting that the 49ers have any chance of trading him. I was just saying I'm glad they've got his contract problem.

I was also saying that back in 2020 the 49ers were the beneficiaries of a bad decision by the Commanders, who mistreated Williams and then had to get rid of him for very little value.

I wouldn't say over extended.

They are trying right now to get his cap number down. Assumption is they told his agent to go see what teams were willing to pay him in terms of $$$ AND what those teams would be willing to give them in draft picks.

Once he got that information, Trent and his agent can come back to the table knowing whats what.

The fact that they didn't exercise the option tells me they aren't that far off on an agreement. I can't imagine they take a 46 mil cap hit into the year.

...I've been wrong before though.
