Just how bad is he really? I mean he gets an incredible amount of hate right now, and there's no doubt he's been bad. But he did have a couple big picks last year... Pete must have some modicum of faith in him to have kept him around this hear. Is everyone in agreement he should be cut?

Man, and I had thought he'd gotten his shit together after last year and a refocused mindset.

I read somewhere that he averages 12 yards a throw against him. It catch but thro. That was before Arizona. I remember Chris Collinsworth remarking that he was guarding De Andre. I just knew. You all do if they throw at him it’s good.

Jesus. Here we go again.

Let's pretend you are cover corner against the leagues #1. What are you going to do? Play man press? Then let him zoom your ass for a 50 yard score? Please. He plays as told so that doesnt happen. Actually tre is better in man, but anyway..tre came in our last game against DeAndre at LCB because griffin went out and dunbar shifted over. Tre only allowed one catch on him which was a curl in front of him playing far off to hopkins. Before flowers was in... hopkins had atleast 6 or 7 catches against dunbar who played the same coverage. Damn!!!! Actually watch the game before commenting.

If you are going to bitch about a player...make it count cuz I will call you on it everytime. Stop hating players specifically and start believing in what we have to improve. Otherwise coaching in the highest professional level of football is irrelevant.

I think you are misunderstanding the point of my OP. I am more on the fence with him, and think maybe people are giving him a bad rap. He has not played well this year though.

I mean when you play 10 yards off every play and you're 6 foot 3, it's gonna be hard to guard a slant.

Call out PFF for grading him at a 43.7 (honestly I thought it was going to be worse than that). Flowers has been horrible and a liability. He's been targeted 19 times and has given up 16 receptions.

You are right. I went over board there for a minute. I did notice what you said by siding with flowers. He gets a ton of hate. For instance the post above about 16 receptions in 19 targets. Did anyone check what dunbar is giving up? Cuz I'm sure his rate is high too. Griffin as well. Because of how we play defense and not individual players.

I wasnt directly speaking to you and I could have been less vague with who i was talking to...which is haters in general. I like your post. Sometimes I think I'm the honorary flowers protector from all the dam haters.

He’s fine as a backup. The problem is the injury bug knocks out a starter every week.

He is unplayable at corner. As a hybrid linebacker/safety, he is above average, the guy has a knack for forced fumbles.

Well, at least this is a consistent theme.

The free yardage granted opposing wide receivers off the line of scrimmage has been a focus on this board, so I paid closer attention to that element of today's game. Per my observations, it appeared the defensive scheme against San Francisco called for closer coverage from the backs, and when that was impelemented it looked to have been more successful than the previous pass defense this season.

I thought Flowers had an average game, which is better than in the recent past. Hopefully the coaches can continue to dial in how best to use his skill set in this defense.

It has to be man coverage. He has to much freedom in zone and gets lazy. Dunbar too. They need to be up on the line and physically dominating recievers. Then play trailing hard to the hip, focus on reciever when he looks to catch and literally see the dam ball. That's it. I dont know where in the world db became so complicated and then how it spread across the nfl so easy but dam. I miss players like jason sehorn, deion, Tyler law, ray Buchanan, shawn freaking springs. They didnt need zone defense. They were literally better than opposing teams players. Even Marcus Peter's was a better db before they turned him into a zone bot. Sherman was the last to do it. Emmanuel Moseley looked like Sherman out there on dk.
