Props to him on the fake punt. The guy is quick.
Plus he recovered a fumble. Great game for the rookie.

This guy was really really good at Miami. The only reason we got him so late was the same reason we got Chris Carson in the 7th, injuries.

Pete and John recognize the talent, and realize, "once we get him in our strength and conditioning program, and teach him how to take care of himself, we'll have another steal on our hands!

Remember Paul Richardson? The only WR Colorado had, the only guy defenses focused on, but he had injuries. John invested draft capital in the young man, and he turned out to be a deep threat that IIRC, got us a compensatory pick when he signed with the Redskins. But, I don't think the Redskins take as good of care of their players as we do. So the poor guy is back to injuries again.

Dude has juice. And then lowered his head and sought out contact. We have an embarassment of riches at several positions.

You don't get starters in the 7th round, the Forum experts have told us that. :)

Goes along with the 'any 1st Rd pick is an instant starter' idea.

The real-time camera work wasn't expecting Homer to take the punt-snap and run with it. I'd been telling my family earlier in the game that a fake would be fun to see, but that Pete almost never calls for them. I guess the programmers didn't expect it either.

He sure looked fast, though. I'd love to see him get the ball in the 4th quarter of a game we had already amassed 150+ yards rushing, like last night. He'd be fresh and anxious to get some good yards.

Yeah, they talked about it after the game. Minnie had a tendency to overload one side to set up their return. They moved to our left, and we basically did a power sweep to the right. Their left end shifted too far inside the takcle box and was sealed off. Hell, I could have made the 1st down on that one. It was what, 4th and 3 or 4 IIRC?

But Homer turned on the jets there. Somebody slower might have made 15 yards on that. He went 29.

And Michael Dickson really sold the punt play with the hunched shoulders and weird stance he affects pre-snap. Man, I was watching him for a few seconds after the ball was snapped; totally sucked in.

That was a great play.

I think Homers 4th down run was a significant play in the sense that it exemplifies Carroll's philosophy of putting players in position to be successful...

Notice after the play, The reaction from the other players, they mobbed Homer... This is huge... This is a team with no doubt in the locker room.. and it's because Carroll and the coaching staff put these players in position to be successful consistently until success becomes an afterthought...

The other play that shows this was Moore's TD reception... That was not a freak play that was a planned executed match up victory from a player who the Vikes were not expecting to make that kind of a play... they were focused on metcalf and
Lockett all night and Schotty torched them with Moore...

Nice play!

IMO, he reminds me of Patriots RB James White. Same size, good hands, and good blocker.

He’s the definition of a change of pace back with good speed 4.48 forty.

Hope the team can carve a role for him on offense.

Actually, IIRC, Dickson took off to the left, faking the run to that side, while Homer ran to the right.

It was a well disigned play, and executed to perfection. According to Homer, they practiced it all week.

No, they have said that the Seahawks don't get starters with their first picks. Maybe Penny is coming out (hope so though I have been and remain a critic) but other than maybe him they've been right.

I thought so too. I checked and NextGenStats recorded Homer at 20.95 mph.

For reference, they also have a list of top 20 fastest plays for the entire year and #20 was 21.31 mph.

Even though Penny has had some recent success I think the Hawks may trade him away next year and retain Homer . I hope that Homer gets more touches the rest of the way and shows he deserves to be in the regular rotation .

Why trade Penny? No need for that at this point. He is on the rise, and is starting to look the way they anticipated. I'm just glad the fans are not running the team

Look at what SF has done with a good stable of backs. I'm sure Pete wants that too and the price for Carson/Penny/Homer is perfect right now. No need to trade Penny since after next year we may be losing Carson to FA.

And what has Homer done as a RB? Just because you like a guy or he makes a couple good plays, that doesn't equate to him being some for sure great RB. It's a very good problem to have, plenty of options.
Penny has been just thrashed by the fans, he's doing well and deserves to be in there. And he deserves to stay with the team.
