Today is July 13th. Rookies report in 4 days with veterans reporting 6 days later. I believe this is a departure from the PC era in that Pete usually had them all in within about a day of each other. Could this be a regular thing with MM? Did Pete bring them all in at the same time because he didn’t hold rookies in as high esteem as veterans?
I like that the rooks are going to get more time to acclimate themselves before the vets come in and start doing their vet stuff.
Whatever the reason, the offseason is just about over and we can get onto some real football talk and leave the silly season behind.

As I recall, bringing in rookies ahead of the veterans has been standard practice for many years including that of the Pete Carroll era.

Quote from NFL important dates:

Clubs are permitted to open preseason training camp for Rookies (defined as a player who has never signed an NFL Player Contract with a Club in a prior League Year) beginning seven days prior to the club’s mandatory reporting date for Veteran players. A Club’s preseason training camp will be deemed to have officially opened on the designated reporting date for all Rookies.
Clubs may require First-Year Players (defined as a player who signed an NFL Player Contract with any Club in a prior League Year, but who does not have a pension-credited season) to report on the designated reporting date for all Rookies, or at any time thereafter, including, but not limited to, the designated reporting date for Veteran quarterbacks and injured players, or the designated reporting date for all other Veteran players.

Pete’s way worked for a long time. I have a hard time slamming it.

The problem was not Pete’s way IMO. It was that they stopped getting players who could be self driven enough to thrive in a more relaxed environment.

They started drafting beach bums for the beach, instead of drafting badasses that would make the beach their bitch.
