We all should know John's MO by now. If anyone didn't see them wanting to trade back from #32 then there is quite literally no help for you at this point. Will he find a trade partner? With it being #32 and teams wanting an extra 5th year option I say yes.

When you have so few picks and your picks are so late already it becomes a numbers game.

2nd, 3rd and a fiveth? If the first 2nd rounder is high enough trade down again for a 3rd and a fourth? Make it so #1

I need Kilgore and Zach Branch. From 32 to 34? 34 to 39? Arizona has 34. Browns have 39. Arizona needs Simpson. Browns just wanna seem relevant. Maybe the Browns reach for a rb. Ravens 45.

This is the least excited I can ever remember being about the draft. Not complaining. Coming off a Super Bowl win and drafting last in an already weak draft will do that to ya, I suppose. And because we already have so few picks, yes, trading back seems almost inevitable. Hell, I like not having this pre-draft anxiety. Last year at this time I was so worried that someone would snipe Zabel just before we picked. Nothing like that to worry about this year.

We have so many picks next year, a great draft class by all accounts, perhaps they can parlay some of that capital for picks this year. No way, will we keep all those picks coming next year.

Didn't John turn 4 picks into 8 players a few years ago? Forget the exact year, but it seems we were in a very similar position some years back and he did fairly well picking up depth guys and camp fodder.

It would be really disappointing if he failed to make a trade simply because he didn't feel he was getting enough value, which is an excuse he's made more than once.
The Hawks need more young talent. I'd gladly trade #32 for a 2nd and 3rd. Two chances to add real talent.

Last year we drafted 3 injured or coming off of injury players. This has potential in second and 3rd. Edges, safeties and cb. As much as any other. We will see. I'm not buying the narrative. based on top 30 visits we could grab a decent class. We probably upgrade what we lost. A draft tailored to the Hawks needs. Superbowl malaise by the fans, maybe.

I can see Arizona wanting #32 to jump over the Jets at #33 to draft Ty Simpson. Unfortunately, we'd probably only get their second rounder (#36) and their 5th (#143).

The draft point calculator agrees with this assessment. That is surprisingly almost exactly what that trade is "worth" for both sides. Now, anybody can throw that out the window but they may not get much more than that.

You have to have a trade partner willing to give you enough in a trade to make up for who you might get at that pick. Sometimes there just isn’t anyone licking their chops to move up. More often than not though John has gotten good return for our picks.

James in PA always has great posts. You don't try to impress with your posts. You're just genuine.

I get why your not as excited. I can buy that. Still, I freakin' love the draft. In addition to the Hawks putting on a clinic, I'm not against seeing certain other teams get better. Teams of my best friends and teams that need to get better like the Browns and Jets. I've been sort adopted as an acceptable fan amongst Chicago Bears fans where I watch games at their local venue here in Orlando, FL. And, I hope to see the Rams and 49ers blow it. Sometimes it's better to see needy teams get identified promising prospects than our division foes to get them.

My perspective is that we should be welcoming at least 4 draft picks into the competition that should make this team better. I am fascinated with what genius John and his staff will do. Even with UDFA's. Many of us do mocks, but I just love how John says "We don't care" about what the analysts and draft predictions say. He drafts for our team.

So, that is exciting to me. All of the off-season strategy. Definitely much better when we the champs! I'm happy, but the repeat is there for the taking. Go Hawks!

If and big if this is true it will be due to the one thing that stands out about John.

He grades players differently, don't believe the Mediots and so call Spurts, if he and Mac see niche value of a player or players graded low by the who he thinks is interested he may pull this trade back off. We need to get a few players to challenge to start for sure, but depth is what hurts you as a Champion team, you lose a lot of it as teams want the attitude and the leadership from a champion as well as the pilfer of high end players if they can get them, looking at you Walker who is now considered the worst signing this season.

For this to happen a team with picks to burn and wants a specific player will have to offer something somewhat enticing.

That type of player is one teams want a 5th year option on like a QB,WR,CB,DE,LT mostly.

It has been seven years since John traded down in the first round, and 9 since he traded out of the first round entirely, so some degree of skepticism about this being his current MO is reasonable.

I do think that any team with only four picks would be looking to trade the least valuable 1st round pick for a couple of later round picks, so it’s a reasonable expectation, if he can find a trade partner.
