You can cut a player any time after the start of the new league year in March and designate them a post-June 1st cut, so that has nothing to do with it.

The Seahawks have shown they will keep a player with injury issues for as long as possible if they think they can still play.

The best thing about adding Love to Diggs and Neal (for now) is you can ask less from Adams in coverage and ask less as a tone setter in the hitting department.

But I think they’ll literally ask for less from Adams,

…like our vision for you has changed, but we have a plan for you, we want you to be a nickle/dime role player specifically in the box and be able to pin your ears back as a pass rusher but in order to do this we want to renegotiate and reduce your salary $8-$12m less per year but we’ll offer incentives to earn half that back with availability and production escalators….

Then Adams has to face that ultimatum and really figure if he wants to remain a part of this team and face the challenge of being reduced to a specialist. Or face the challenge of an open market that might also only view him as a specialist rather than an up-and-coming safety and if he can even get mid-market money at this point or long term stability for that matter considering his play and injury history.

I’d consider it a win-win scenario either way for the Seahawks whether he moves on or stays on in a reduced role and reduced compensation.
This makes the most sense to me also ^, too much wear & tear on the guy so I believe it would behoove the guy to dial back a little bit, and reset his focus on playing with a little less Hammer, and a lot more finesse.
If he wants to extend his career, and not wind up half crippled coming out the other side, I would think he would welcome taking that "reduced role" if offered, and too, take a page out of the Geno Smith playbook, and do something to help the Seahawks organization by taking some squeeze off his CAP hit.

Man I hope he plays well and finally stays healthy. So tired of hearing people whine and moan about the guy.
Not that some of it isn't justified. Just sayin.........
there is no doubt this trade has been an unmitigated disaster. It really hosed this team. So, I would really like to see him get healthy and actually contribute.

There isn't a team in the league who would take him and that 18+ million dollar contract. I hate the trade but at this point hoping for the best. I think he probably gets released though because having 40 million tied up between 3 safeties is stupid.

I hope so as well. He was awesome when he got here, not as great his second season when they were really hosing the defensive scheme.

I don't like what we gave up to get him and the contract is what it is but the only problem with him has been his availability due to injury. You'd think from comments here that he was a terrible human being and even worse player, on top of being hurt.

A healthy Jamal Adams is the best player on the field.

We’re kind of missing that “healthy” part.

If we would’ve got what we thought we were getting, no one and I mean absolutely no one, would’ve been talking about the positional trade value.

This is definitely his last hurrah as a Hawk, if he's not already a cap casualty after June 1st. I'm pulling for him. I like his energy and leadership. Not crazy about his coverage skills.

I'll tell you one thing. If Love performs well, Adams will never wear a Seahawk uniform again, he's done, and Seattle will cut their losses.

Squeeze every last drop of juice out of that lemon, ride out his current contract, and then send him on his way. He will be completely out of the league within four years, probably two years sooner than that, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

I hope he gets healthy and we shelve him until near playoff time. He could be a difference maker. I just don’t believe his contract is tradeable, but I’ve been surprised before.

What the hell are you talking about? I guess Adams played like shit whenever he is on the field. Nope!!! In fact the opposite and is often making plays behind line of scrimmage, out in space or in coverage. He is the only player we still have who can constantly impact the game or opponents scheme, that is on our defense.

Guarantee if he is healthy...he is starting...which means they adjust the scheme to have 3 safeties at all times or they stick traditional 2 safeties and rotate diggs with love.

I saw a lot of 2-4-5 in person game 1. Which means they plan to have 5 dbs in most situations.

I get what your saying, but we shall see. I don't see Adams returning until October at the earliest. If love is playing at a pro bowl level, I'm telling you Adams may start, but when the season is over and if love has a pro bowl level season Adams is gone. I'm not saying Adams is garbage, but what I am saying is Adams is not the right fit for this defensive scheme, and he's injury prone. You guessed it, I'm not a Adams fan one bit. Dudes got a big ass mouth and he's made of glass.
