Is it just me, or does it seem that half this forum is getting way too humble? In a losing season, we're quick to stick up for the Hawks when we're getting all sorts of hate, but in a winning season, while we're getting national love, it's constantly "that's not right, so and so is better than so and so," or "technically this team is better than us," blah blah blah. Not to be a pest, but seriously, when the national media is giving is love, stop trying to discount it. Secondly, when people make predictions (16-0 for example), knock it off with shooting that stuff down and doing the "one game at a time" stuff. A prediction like that is VERY possible, regardless of how probable it is.

Bottom line: Our team is getting love and we're confident! Absorb it, don't reject it! People had high expectations in August, and it was okay then. The same expectations now seem to be getting "hey calm down, let's watch it play out" sort of responses now. KNOCK IT OFF

People don't want to be called out when/if it all goes south. This way, everyone can say they never thought 16-0 was a possibility or yada yada

Maybe i'm reading too many threads, but with the mood of this board i'm seeing you'd think we were 0-4 rather than 4-0.

You're actually whining because people have a cynical opinion that differs from yours?

Yeah, I've gotten ragged on a couple of times for merely saying 16-0 is a real possibility. Very annoying. Downers need to shut their traps.

First off the National Media doesn't know shit, they have been more wrong than right about everything Hawks related and are simply jumping on for a ride in the new toy that is the Seahawks out West. As far as 16 - 0 THERE IS A REASON, the Dolphins are the only undefeated season team, it's practically an impossible task given the extended length of the season and injuries. It is a lot like showing up to the Prom and saying I'm taking the prom queen home tonight even though I am not her date in my 1965 Volkswagon bus.

Factor in the huge amount of injuries we are dealing with early on, Okung, Unger, Breno, Harvin, now Miller, on offense and it's called tempered enthusiam, one game at a time with this many bumps and bruises and how we match up is a realistic and reasonable approach. If by the end of the day at the end of the season and were 15 - 0 we can talk about the 16 - 0 approach.

The team looks at it one game at a time, just every one game is approached like a championship game. It's not a bad way for fans to look at it either. Many of us remember last season and the Arizona game, the Miami game etc. Pie in the sky dreams are great dreams, but if your living in the sky when you fall it hurts a lot more then one that is grounded and taking measured risks and expectations.

Who knows. Folks are always trying to tell other posters how to react so why should that change? Superfans vs Doubters vs Chicken Littles.

If everyone is regurgitating the same stuff there will be a voice that wants to be a devil's advocate. I guess you can ask folks to be more positive but nothing wrong in discussing the pros and cons of an idea. Some of the feel good stuff gets a little sappy and it is during these times that speaking against the tide is liable to get you shouted down, I figure things can be discussed within reason.

If someone is consistently telling folks they are idiots, I could understand the need to lash out. If it is because they are killing your buzz, you may have to resort to the Friend vs Foe filtering option. That is if you see this post.

I wonder if anyone saw this post .... ha ha! I suck!

I'm a humble poster, I'm also superstitious. I know we're fully capable of going 19-0, but I don't expect it, and won't shove it down people's throats either.

That's fair. I guess i'm a bit thrown off by the balance i'm perceiving.

I think I could have received a Masters in Psychology just based on what I've learned about human beings in group dynamics over the years that I ran this site, I swear. This forum community is rich in social and psychology studies just waiting to be analyzed.

I understand where you're coming from, and looking back, I can see I wasn't very clear in what my message was. I definitely have no problem with anyone's opinion on anything that has or will happen. The problem I'm addressing is people shooting down everyone's high hopes in every single topic. People have a good reason for high hopes, and shouldn't be getting shot down every time they let them be known, especially with a season going this well.

In response to the one game at a time thing, I agree that it is the only way the team should view it. From a fan's perspective, it's an okay way, but it's kind of the fan's job to look ahead. People shouldn't be told to "focus on the next game" when they're looking ahead, they're not the ones playing the game.

Chris, the "one-and-oh every week" approach is not mutually exclusive to going 16-0. In fact, it's how our own team is trying to reach a flawless record.

I will go this far, I would take the experienced posters here and guys that do game day analysis over just about anything outside our market, we know this team and the experienced fans know the logistics of what challanges await a team every season. We have not truly dominated and blown out anyone really except the Jags to date, we had a great win versus S.F but I would not write them off as a team of chumps just yet either. We have won ugly and good teams do that, we need to start making a bigger statement in our wins I think is what a lot of people are looking at.

And in the end, when we all meet up for a few beers, we are all the same........ Hawk Fans.

Is that a Beatles song?.... :)

I totally agree. We need last year's Chicago game. That pretty much set the tempo for the rest of the season. It was a big statement game, and definitely boosted the overall confidence of the team from that point on.

I see it as a level headed fan base. Many called out BS when the media was knocking us and rightfully so and now you see the opposite. Most around here know the bulk of the media doesn't watch our games and usually follow the trend. Looking for the honest and reasonable review is not a bad thing.

If you want to see a unreasonable and ridiculous fan base go on the Niners web zone. Personally I would rather read posts from level headed fans that actually have a clue about how the game works and not just blind homerism.

I keep waiting for everyone to come over to my line of thinking but those hard-headed bastages won't listen. I am running out of time.

Seriously though, I understand the frustration when it seems you cannot enjoy a victory before someone comes in with the "Yeah, but ...". That is why I agree with those who opt to enjoy the victory for a day or so before hitting the forum hard. I don't mind the "Yeah, but ...", it is the fire/cut anger that I tend to avoid. I must admit it looks like that discussion about Bevel had some fine points in it that I am going to read through.

Other posts, I just miss out because I took the avoid the forum approach. There are some epic breakdowns and arguments missed because of this approach as well.

I've compared our score prediction thread with other forums (Texans last week, Colts this week) and we are far more optimistic about our games than fans on those forums. We generally have less than 5% of our predictions showing a loss, whether against the Texans/49ers/Colts.
