I agree we should be trying to throw to him more. Even in tight traffic, he seems to be making plays. Throw it up and let him go get it.

Just put a belt on so we don't have to see his butt when he falls down.

Rice and Miller all day long and I am a happy camper. With some Baldwin sprinkled on the side. Deep, short, outside and inside. Make it so #1.

That's funny...I said the same thing after his TD catch against New England!

I think it's just more Pete and Bevell out-smarting Pete and Bevell. Certainly every D understands we want to get Rice more involved, so P&B think they're clever in not going to Rice. I have no other explanation for it. Not when I see Rice IS getting speration and finding openings. One of the problems is Pete's incredible fear of the dreaded turn over. He wants to play not to lose and I feel that mentality is hurting both the team and Wilson's progress. Screw the occasional mishap, a turn over in this league is worth approximately 3.5 pts (on avg). With our D, probably more like 2 pts. We have to let the rook take some chances and throw the ball to guys that can catch the damn thing and perhaps get some YAC. Rice is that guy until we can find better or someone to compliment him (like Robert Woods).

I was curious about the playcalling as well. It seemed liked we wanted to get Edwards going in the game. OVer the last few games (started with Rams) I thought we'd done a great job getting the ball to Rice early in the first drive. Designing plays just for him. I hope we can get back to it. We need more Rice, Miller, Baldwin.

A great point. i'm surprised how they are going out of their way to get Tate the ball, but not Rice. Rice is simply our best WR - and a legit #1... and we are using him like a warm body.

Hawk wow - agree. The other thing is where and when the TO happened. 1st and 10 on your 20 and a int ten yards downfield is bad. 3rd down 40 yard line 40 yard throw int not so bad (depending on return :))

PC alluded to this after the last int making the point not good but not horrible outcome...

I saw him open a few times at different points in the game. I would guess he will be getting a bit more attention (for good or bad) after that last game. He's the teams best WR but sometimes defenses know that too (shocker), hence why he isn't as open as he thinks sometimes.

Is there anything worse than first down TOs?!?

I totally agree with your take on TOs. Hell, Elway punted on 3rd down more than just a few times. 3rd and very longs are almost never doable (unless it's against us!). Depnding on the score, quarter etc., I have no issue with a QB going deep to his best WR on 3rd and long..even in double coverage. 3 things can happen and two of them are good (PI, catch). The key to this is the QB letting all know in the huddle before the play: "Hey, I'm airing this mofo out....aniticipate a pick somewhere around the 15 on the left sideline". This way the return of the probable int is minimized.

We have a HUGE punter, but Pete just needs to chill a bit with the TO thing. Especially on 3rd and longs. IMO.

I just can't understand why we so rarely throw the ball up to him. By far, his biggest strength is going up and getting it. Yet when we heave it, it is inevitably to Baldwin or Tate.

Well, when your team has 5 DROPS and none of them are Rice, it pretty much says it all. He has great hands, and is by far the best WR on this team.

On a good note Rice is healthy because he's not getting hit like most #1 receivers are.

I can't help but wonder where the team would be, record-wise, if they threw him the damn ball in the red zone. That guy can go up and get it. Guaranteed he would have made that play Brayon didn't vs. the Tards.

Rice would be a 1000 yard 10 TD guy in many offences around the league including Denver, NO, SD

Nobody on our team has caught more than 5 passes in a game (Rice once...I think McCoy had 5 against Dallas).
Think about how crazy that is.
Totally agree...need to target Rice at least 8-10 times a game.

Agreed. He's the type of player that you go out of your way to get the ball into his hands. You design plays tailored just for him and you make a point to run them. He should start doing what Randy Moss used to do - stick your hand up in the air as soon as the ball is snapped on every single play to signal to your QB, hey I'm open. I kid. Moss is a tool.

They aren't throwing to Rice simply because they don't want to get him injured.

If he doesn't get tackled very often he just might make it through the season.
