I am happy. Yes it was ugly. Yes it raises concerns. But it was a "W". I believe many of us were worried we would loose this game, even if we wouldn't say it out loud. SEAHAWKS 1-0. Nobody has a better record. I'm Happy.

Anyone that expected us to steamroll the Panthers has not been paying attention. This is a game you just want to get of Dodge with a "W".

On the road cross country, in the heat and humidity, early start, missing our top 3 pass rushers and a starting CB, tons of missed practice time in camp, breaking in a rookie TE and FB in their first NFL regular season starts, playing a fired-up Panthers team in front of their home fans wanting to make a statement, Zach Miller and Sidney Rice coming back after missing all of the pre-season games (except for a token appearance from Zach vs the Raiders), playing one of the strongest front 7's in the NFL, playing a dangerous mobile QB... on and on and on.

All style points get tossed. Winning this type of game is what separates teams that go 9-7/10-6 and 12-4. One less 10 am Pacific adventure for us and this was was CRITICAL with the 49ers coming in and back-to-back tough road games in Houston and Indianapolis looming.

I'm stoked. This is the kind of game with adversity that we just couldn't win last season (@ Arizona, @ St. Louis, @ Detroit, @ SF, @ Miami). With lots of things stacked against, this time found a way to win.

We couldn't win a similar game against Miami. This year they did. Right now, I'm content with the results because this team has a long, upward trajectory. Just like last year.

The way the stars were aligned, this game had "WTF...SOS" (What the F...,Same Old Seahawks) written all over it, and I do expect them to have at least one or two of those games somewhere down the line. 10 AM start, high humidity, key players missing, other key players held out all pre season, mobile QB with a new OC to add the unknown element, you name it. Also, when you look at our road schedule, this was probably the most winnable game on it, so of course, in past years, they would have let this one get away, like Arizona last year, but they didn't.

They found their way in the fourth quarter, and I LOVED how they put that game on ice on the last drive, save for Coleman running out of bounds after converting a huge first down.

Bring on the Whiners. :49ersmall:

pretty close to what I expected for game one. Slow start, but they'd come on strong in the end and finish and win it.

Drop the mic, Greg. You've earned it.

I feel good about the win, I feel we could have played alot better but it was the first game of the season. The game was a deffensive battle and we struggled on offense I believe or offense will work on the kinks and look alot better Sunday night.

They looked about where I expected.

They will start peaking sometime in mid December.
I hope they don't wait that long!

More like sometime in November.

I hope we don't peak until February.
By the very definition of the word, if we peak in November the only way from there is down

I am very happy with thin win, even though it was ugly. I watched the game again and came to the conclusion that we were about 2 mistakes on plays and 2 referee calls from us blowing out Carolina. I guess that is to be expected in your first game and on the road.

Nervously anticipating that Tom Cable will fix most of the problems in the O line this week. If he does it should be a great game against the 49ers this Sunday. I loved that we just kept fighting and didn't seem to get discouraged at all, what a great time to be a Seahawk fan.

They performed exactly as I expected. They came out flat on offense, picked up in the second half, and came back to win the game with stout defense and some clutch QB/WR/FB play.

I was about to post pretty much the exact same thing. Thanks for saving me the time, Greg. :th2thumbs:
