I know. I already explained my reasoning for bringing up wiki. There actually is a lot of oversight on pro sports franchises when it comes to listing titles. It's not something that is constantly changed by people. If Seattle officially got the 79 title back it would be taken off OKC's wiki and stay off.

I still find it funny that they are named after a Boeing project that massively failed and almost decimated the city's economy due to it.

I wouldn't do a touchdown dance just yet. We've crossed the 5-yard line, not the goal line. It's first and goal at the 5.

The proposition still has one more hurdle to clear. A potential ownership group needs to put forth a proposal, and it has to be approved by 3/4 of the league owners, or 23 out of the 30 owners. That process could take many more months if it occurs at all.

One of the things that could enter into the decision is that the league is anxious to expand their footprint in Europe. Could that affect the decision as to whether or not to expand domestically?

The Seattle SuperSonics were originally named that because of the planned Boeing SST (Supersonic Transport). With nothing like that on the horizon, and Boeing no longer even headquartered here, the new team will need to be the Seattle Tech-Weenies.
