I am still angry, and will forever hold a grudge against certain people for their involvement in stealing a team and then not having character enough to admit being wrong and fully apologize. However, once the team is back I will be happy to have the NBA back and another pro sports team to follow.

I am still grumpy about them being stolen in the first place. I really dont know how I feel about their return. On one hand I am excited on the other I am pissed.
I feel you. I’m mad too. But it’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new era… only two more years….

Why the hell do we have to wait two more years… Seattle is like 1/4 of the country!

Ok so Brock and Salk just said 2028 we get the Sonics back!!

How does this make you feel?

I’m excited!! Maybe KD will retire a sonic?

It’s been too long
Do you have a link? The only thing I've been able to find is that the Board of Governors are scheduled to vote on expansion next week.

Although it's looking good, it's not a done deal.

I'm still scarred from the Chris Hansen/Kings stuff. I like Climate Pledge but SODO would have been a far better location with the light rail locations.

The media all seem to get the sense that the owners want this though (instant pay day and getting the 12th biggest TV market in helps a lot) then they'll turn their attention to realignment and NBA Europe.

I still don't see how it can be the Sonics
Several professional sports teams have moved, only for their original cities to be awarded new franchises through expansion, most notably in the NHL and NBA. Key examples include the Charlotte Hornets, Winnipeg Jets, and teams in Cleveland (like the Browns).

When the Sonics moved the city retained all the history and the original name. They still have Wilkens, Haywood, and Payton's jerseys in storage to hang up once the team is back. I just heard an interview with Spencer Haywood yesterday where he was talking about how excited he is to go and see his jersey retired by his original team when they're back. It may be awkward at first for some, but eventually it'll just be the Sonics who unfortunately had a 20 year hiatus in their history. Doesn't seem to effect the Browns at all. Do you really think of the Browns as not really the Browns?

This. The championship moved to OKC.
Umm, actually, no.

Seattle holds the rights to the SuperSonics name, branding, and colors under the 2008 legal settlement, while also retaining the franchise’s pre-2008 history.

Yes, the Sonics history stayed in Seattle.

For years, it has been speculated that Clay Bennett and company took all the green and gold jerseys, banners, and trophies with him to Oklahoma City. That, however, is not the case.

Hmm so when Seattle gets a team again all the division titles, retired numbers, and 79 title won't be displayed on OKC's wiki anymore?

Personally the Sonics I know, will never be associated with these usurpers who are calling themselves the Sonics. The chain of custody has been broken, broken for over 20 years and just cannot be unbroken. Sonics should be preserved laid to rest as part of Seattle's long history whilst a new chapter in her history begins.

I don't know about other expansion teams. frankly, don't care to, it s just how I feel.

just a thought though, say we win the championship in our first years.. will they say the Sonics have waited and endured for over 50 years to bring in another championship team?

lol, you know in the end, I don't care, I did love the old Sonics as at that time they were the only sports team here in Seattle and I liked the product. I've watched a game.. part of the game and frankly, I don't care for it and won't follow it if it's here. That said, that's what I'm saying now.. who really knows.
