Skylar Thompson has three starts over his career since being selected in the seventh round out of Kansas State, plus another game against the Jets that saw him get plenty of time.

In the regular season he threw for 614 yards, one touchdown and three picks. His single playoff start was a bit more forgettable: 18-for-45 (40%) for 220 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He was sacked four times in that game.

The point is that while Seattle has been burned by backups before (look no further than Mason Rudolph and the Steelers in a loss from December last season), this isn’t a passer who has a lot of experience, nor one who’s had a week or two to get his feet wet leading into this matchup. That means there’s opportunity for a Seattle pass rush that’s been bringing plenty of pressure. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Mafe has generated 14 pressures through two weeks (Pro Football Focus has him at 15, second only to Aidan Hutchinson) and could be poised for a strong performance.

I blame the past coaches for that non chalant energy. Like, it’s just show up and we will win attitude cause the other team knows to lose to us….that approach keeps a team mediocre and never buries the team they should by at least 10 points.

Seattle needs to beat the Dolphins by 10 points, minimum. Especially, when they don’t have their starting QB, and has to come to the other side of the US.

It should even be more than 10 points since Buffalo completely whooped the Dolphins even when the Dolphins had their QB.

I think this coaching staff is a lot more prepared than the previous staff so I have new hope for this organization now.

No doubt that will be the focus. Shore up that run D and then pin their ears back and let Mafe and the boys feast.

If there was a game where the eastern media needs to be shown the Hawks are not just a pretender team who has had an easy schedule so far, this is it.

The spread started at 6.5 and has now been whittled to 4.5. I guess the betting was too one sided @. 6.5. Since Tua went out this game changed from being a tough matchup to one where it will be very hard for MIA to run their high motion O. The spread change smells of Vegas meddling to one where despite the high level of talent on the ‘phins where the eastern media unpopular Seahawks are going to lay it on Miami by more than the opening spread. The hawks will show they are deserving of being part of the conversation.

Skyler Thompson is going to find it hard to operate in our house with the crowd noise. Who is he anyway, other than a suspect backup who allows Miami to fill their cap challenged roster? I truly don’t think I’m being a homer here either as Miami doesn’t travel well and they are also facing an injury bug. Our D will shut down their high speed O and simply outmuscle them. Geno will again show his steady competence.

I expect our team to really show up. Miami won’t be an easy out but they will not find things easy here, and what for many of their fans was thought to be a game marked down in preseason calculation as a W will turn into a L as the post Tua pain begins for real.
