Week 7 games have just wrapped up, and the defending SB champs are clearly in trouble. They have lost two in a row and are sitting at 3-3. Their road woes have returned, as they are 1-2 on the road, and they are no longer impervious at home, with Dallas dominating them in a game that was nowhere near as close as the 30-23 score indicates. .NET is panicking.
Fast forward 8 weeks...
The defending SB champs are arguably the hottest team in the league. They have won 7 of their last 8 games and have control over the NFC West crown, and are very well positioned to grab the #1 seed again (and at worst, the #2). They only need to beat the Cardinals and their 3rd string QB (who they once beat 58-0), and then a home tilt against the Rams to secure another division title and a chance at being home throughout the postseason.
It's funny what difference healthy players and a refocused team will make, isn't it?
For the record, we were not the only team sitting at 3-3, but we're damn sure the team making the most of their season since that game. The following teams were also 3-3, and none of them have a record as good as ours right now:
PIT (9-5)
BUF (8-6)
KC (8-6)
CLE (7-7)
HOU (7-7)
MIA (7-7)
NYG (5-9)
CHI (5-8)
Not to mention that of the 12 teams that had a better record after 6 games than the Seahawks' 3-3, we now have an equal or better record than all but 3 of them: New England, Denver, and Arizona. And of those 3, we've beaten two of them.
Even with the O-line struggles, even with the early season distractions, even with the pedestrian WRs and the uncertainty whether Lynch will be a Seahawk in 2015, this team has run a gauntlet this year and is ready to continue dominating.
Finally, as for the tiebreaker scenario when it comes to the #1 seed, it looks much better for us than some might think. If Seattle wins out, the only thing they need is for the Packers and Lions to both win next week and then to not tie in their final head-to-head matchup at the end of the season. If that happens, it doesn't matter what Dallas does, as that scenario guarantees that the NFC North winner will be 12-4, meaning that any scenario in which Dallas ties us, it's a 3-way deal that we win. So go Packers, go Lions, and most importantly, GO HAWKS!
