Unfortunately this is yet another example of it. RBs coach schooled me on that freshman year. Trying to stay on your feet to the bitter end is when the vast majority of injuries, and particularly serious injuries, happen.

Hopefully, if Carson can make it back from PUP next year, he learns from this without taking it too far and becoming a lesser player.

Hang in there, young man.

If I remember correctly that's how Thomas broke his leg as well. Heard the Vikings stud RB may have an ACL injury. I know Shaun was an on popular RB near the end of his career here but he was a master at preserving himself for the long run.

Carson, Rawls, Procise, every single one has an extensive injury history.

Basically every RB learns this a some point or should. As far as I know, Carson has o ly had the broken thumb, unless you're talking about his Juco days, which was most of college for him.

Not sure how you "coach" them to avoid a high-low, front-back pile like that, but ok.

When I played and coached, one player go thru them, two players split them and go down when stopped, in a pile and stopped go down. If your stood up go limp and go down and not be a free target.

As a defender I played CB, stand them up when in run support and let someone strip or clean them up to create turnovers or make them less aggressive the next run by taking punishment. If you have a free shot unload at the ball creating separation and punishment.

Yep, this injury was unavoidable.

It's pretty simple. Easier to say though. In the moment all you know is to fight, but you gotta shut it down when you're flat-footed and just bearing weight.

Obviously this isn't Carson's fault per se (disclaimer for THAT croud), but everything brings an opportunity to learn something.
