Not all teams progress from year to year, at the beginning of the season the stats that the Media has to go on are from the prior seasons.they had all of training camp to figure to offense out. They put up 31 points week 2. I just think it's funny that you guys are criticizing the media for the "credible opponent" theory but in the same thread making excuses against the credible opponents.
You talk about player continuity but 1/2 the niners defense week one was new and they were the major reason for the win
The Bears & Bronco's are NOT the same teams as last year, so they would be perceived to be an easy schedule opponent at the start of the year= SURPRISE!
That's why they play the games. It's the teams that have track records of being in the top 10 for several years and continuity in Head coaching that have the advantage AT THE START of each season, that's why the 49ers are perceived to be a CREDIBLE OPPONENT.
In no way, shape or form can you honestly say that the Seahawks played as well 4 years ago under HC Pete Carroll as they are now playing for 2nd year HC Mike Macdonald.
OH AND, we've not even touched on the Quarterbacks, OC's DC's and the continuity that adds to the sauce.
