I don't know about Denver. They have a pretty good defense. #1 in pressures and sacks, stout against the run. They could get better against the pass. They drafted a CB with their 1st round pick so that should help with that. They scored 25 pts/g with a rookie QB. They have a really good offensive line. They are on the up swing. But they couldn't beat KC or LA, so that would have to change.
Maybe, but the Hawks beat them last season and according to most rankings Seattle had a better draft class.

Prisco's rankings are... something.

They traded Geno Smith and signed Sam Darnold to play quarterback. He's younger, but the question is whether he is better. The offensive line should be better with the addition of first-rounder Grey Zabel.11

That "11" is how many spots we dropped from his last set of rankings.

Also, the next biggest drop was the Vikings, who fell 7 spots even though "they've improved on both the offensive and defensive lines", because of losing Darnold. The same quarterback who made us drop 11 spots because we don't know if he's an upgrade. Makes sense.
If Prisco has them at 27, they are definitely winning the Owl this season.

Week one against a rookie QB who had two turnovers and won by 6. The Denver at the end of last season was nowhere close to the Denver we played. They played Buffalo tight in the first half of the wild card.

I understand and don't disagree that had the Hawks and Broncos played later in the year the results would likely have been different but that was last year. I'm not ready to concede that the Broncos are better than the Hawks in 2025.

I still say they won't be able to beat KC and LA this season either.

It will be more of the status quo in that division.
First off -

F Donk Forever.

Nix will have a sophomore slump - and I believe his ceiling isn't much higher than what he showed last season anyway. Their defense is going to be pretty damn good though.

This team ended 2024 season slightly above average and then let go of Lockett, Geno and DK. It seemed to draft well, but again draft talent is not proven talent...yet. The team brought in Darnold who is probably an upgrade from Geno, but has not learned the new system (with new OC). I think the ranking for pre-season is fair. The only time you go up majorly in ranking is if you only needed a key piece like the whole team is solid, but your QB was your key weakness and then you brought in a solid pro-bowl or all-pro QB.

Darnold is being paid less than Smith. Kupp is being paid less than Metcalf. Valdes-Scantling is being paid less than Lockett. On paper it's a downgrade at 3 key positions on the offense. The only depth is at TE. The offense was average at best last season. Power rankings reflect these concerns.

Preseason rankings are pretty much worthless clickbait as they are formulations based heavily on last season playoff finish and deductions for what used to be with little to no credit for changes made in the effort to improve. Look at the space placed between Seahawks and Rams. We should have swept them and won the division instead of a tie which they won on the sixth tie breaker. But in most of the rankings the Rams are almost in an elevated league as compared to the Seahawks.
Only rankings I care about are at the end of the season and last year we ended up being one of only two teams in the league that won their last two games. I like that for the sake of momentum heading into the next season.
