If Lance is a bust, which he could be, does it really matter if Purdy is a success? Say, for instance if the 49ers had traded 3 picks for Purdy and drafted Lance as Mr irrelevant, would 49ers fans be upset. The answer is no. The point of the matter is the 49ers gave up 1,1,1,3,7 for Lance and Purdy and it is likely one of them will be the rookie starter for years. This is why when you say Lance=Bust it doesn't really bother me. Either way we have a starting QB on a rookie salary and have secured being able to re-sign our great players for 2-3 years.

Next year we have 1,2,3,4 rounders and are likely securing two more 3rd rounders in 2024 and 2025 with comp picks for our DC. The niners are set up for the next 4 years and COULD secure our 6 sb in that time. The only key cogs that are older are Trent Williams and Juszczyk.

Purdy has been busting records with every game he’s played. He is not just a game manager—he’s more than generational.

Even Shanahan doesn’t say, like last year, that Trey Lance is their qb1.

I think that If Purdy gets them past the divisional, the team and its fans start confronting the Lance reality.

Cincy and Dallas, I count 5 teams that could beat SF.
But none of those teams have a Bosa, that man destroys everyone.

Lance is awful. Runs a 5 second 40, went to a community college and can’t throw a spiral or an accurate duck to save his skin. I mean was Lynch on crack when he traded 3 firsts and a third?

Purdy is great on the other hand. Runs a faster 40, throws absolute lasers and has a great downfield game. Jimmy got the ball out quick but that’s about it. Lance is just awful in every way shape and form. He’s Brittany Griner’s doppelgänger

Thought it was a bad trade from the start so of course I think it wouldn't be smart if 49ers had to do it all over again and did. That's not the point.
