Lions set to increase ticket prices 24 percent.

Good news, the Lions have built a powerhouse. Bad news, it ain’t cheap to watch a powerhouse.

Via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, season-ticket renewal forms reflect an increase in price by, on average, 24 percent.

Some season tickets are spiking by 67 percent.

The prices were driven by data from the secondary market. If the face price is too low, the scalpers realize a higher margin. By increasing the ticket prices, the Lions are chewing into the profits — and also reflecting a more accurate price point.

It’s the second straight year that the team has increased prices. Which is no surprise. It’s the second straight year that the team has been good, in a long time.
