Servais badly outcoached Bochy today.

Bochy put a catcher out there that sucks at throwing out baserunners. Servais said "Lol, thanks Bruce" and had his guys pretty much stealing bases at will specifically because of who Bochy had catching for him today.

The game plan for Kirby was clearly to go after the Rangers with elevated 4 seam fastballs because they struggle against that. It worked to perfection and there wasn't anything Bochy could do about it, and it didn't look like there were any adjustments made by the Rangers hitters, coaches, or manager even when it became very clear what the game plan was.

Rojas with a huge game in the 2 spot.

I'm sure plenty of people will criticize the decision to have Bazardo pitch the 9th (while ignoring the fact that the M's dominated the first 8 innings of the game), but literally every manager in baseball puts in one of his worst relievers when they have a 6 run lead and only need 3 outs to end the game. No one's putting in one of their high leverage guys with a 6 run lead in the 9th.

If Bazardo can't even protect a 6 run lead in the 9th, the dude needs to either be sent down or DFA'd.
Facts.

All the coaches have to do is not mess things up with the best rotation in baseball somehow get your line up to score 4+ runs and its a win most likely. Line up is the same as yesterday only thing is Garver getting day off so Hanny is playing today.

OK, that was a bit of a statement series. Maybe the most complete game of the season. I might not have sent Gilbert out for the 8th, but it worked out well. Voth is certainly better than Bazardo.

Locklear's swing on that home run though. This dude has looked like a natural I'm very impressed. Canzone is making his case again. Servais put out good line ups all series I give credit to where it's due it actually looked like they were going for a sweep and they did.

I'm believin'. This pitching roster is not to be doubted, our defense is out there making circus plays, and the hitting is finally getting hot.

Started the weekend 5 and a half games ahead of the Rangers, end the weekend 8 and half games ahead.

In sharp contrast to the last three years, it's nice not to be chasing the leaders after falling behind. Better to be the chasee than the chaser.

You do realize we went 33-19 against the AL West in 2023, right?

:)

But I agree. Much better to be leading the Div than trailing.
What I meant was that the last couple of years, we've started out slow and have had to make a huge push in the second half of the season. For example, at the All-Star break last year, we were just 45-44. We were 4 games behind the Astros, and 6 games behind the Rangers.

But yes, last year, we beat up on the Astros, finally, going 9-4 against them. But we were 4-9 against the Rangers. And we went 12-1 vs. the AAAthletics. We also beat up on the Angels.

Great crow, nom nom nom. Clearly this team does NOT suck. I think they are playoff bound. Didn't think I would say that even a month ago.
