Maybe its just me but our offense seems to achieve its best results when the go up tempo...during the Giants game they seemed out of sorts and I was yelling pick up the tempo...which I think would have heled us get into some sort of rhythm....where I think this offense is best. Thoughts?

Most offenses tend to be best when up tempo. We are no exception. Our biggest problem is we need to run the ball too. We can't throw basically 95% of the time and expect it to work. But yes, we do much better when up tempo because it wears out the D, but our D won't get as much rest either.

The up-tempo no-huddle was effective because it kept the Giants D in soft zone, which the offense was able to exploit.

But they can't do it all game. There needs to be long sustaining drives to win the TOP battle. Gives opposing offenses fewer opportunities, and keeps our defense rested. That's complementary football - something that Grubb and Macdonald are hopefully working on. TOP was horrible on Sunday.

No kidding, didn't they have like 23.5 minutes in the first half ???

Fast tempo is a higher risk strategy. When it's working the reduced TOP isn't an issue because your offense is staying on the field. Of course, if it doesn't work and your offense doesn't convert a first down then you are immediately sending your defense back on the field with no rest.

When we're trailing in the game or underdogs it makes sense to employ it, since we are probably losing anyway if the offense doesn't convert first downs.

You can’t go up tempo all game long. It just doesn’t work that way.

There is a lot of no huddle in this offense but it's not only for up -tempo,
you'll see them hiking at various clock counts after running some time off in normal
tempo so the D cannot sub multiple players or change coverage. I love it really the
concept but we need to run more for sure to make it all work, I wish we had an average
OL but we don't and its huge problem... I hope Peters is ready soon, he could be average.

Seems like they are getting up to the line quick and then reading the defense and taking their time. I first witnessed this from the Cincinnati Bengals back in the 1988 or 89 season and it was a brilliant strategy. I think a combination of this along with up-tempo will be the way to go.

I think the key is to trick our offense into believing the entire game only has two minutes left and they are needing a score to win.

Hate to say it, but I see the only chance we can win is if the offense is near perfect, and the defense scores. I don't think our D has any chance against even the mid offenses in the league, and until I see different, I've lost nearly all faith in our defense.
