Normally, I'm a confirmed pessimist. I've been led down this road so many times only to become hugely disappointed that I've intentionally lowered my expectations to the point where I've gotten on a lot of poster's nerves with my Debbie Downer attitude.

But oddly enough, I have a really good feeling for how this team is progressing, and there's not a lot of tangible reasons, which is likely why the majority of pundits have us doing poorly, with an over/under of 7.5 wins. Maybe that good feeling I have is caused by the vacuum created by Pete's eternal optimism and perpetual mediocrity, but I'm really looking forward to this season.

Since the same two or three people are showing signs of derailing this into yet another Darnold thread, I will respond to this.

As a fellow Eeyore, I too see genuine reason for optimism at least on defense. The defense finished tops in the last half of last season and are executing Mike's zone stuff really well. Also, even as cynical as I am, I really appreciate seeing everyone at OTA's, and Jones' words seemed pretty sincere. They've bought into Mike, and that's going to do bode well.
