It is about time. Suspicious though that it comes after his company is the "Official" real estate company of the Seahawks.
Lol. Just because his company is the official RE company, doesn’t mean the Seahawks are paying him anything extra. Usually they pay the Seahawks to be official whatever of the team.

Not surprising. We all knew there would be some salary maneuvering this year. Now that the rookies are decided, time to get the cap in order so we can afford 53 men on the roster come August. Probably be a couple of more in the next few weeks.

Looks like we now have enough cap space to sign our draft picks and still have about $1.5M left over, which isn't enough of a cushion to start the season with... but at least we can now sign all of our draft picks.

I asssume there’s some sarcasm in this post but for the record it would only be suspicious if he took a pay cut. All they did was pay him cash up front. That is actually better for the player

Lockett is basically the face of the franchise and is a complete team player and leader in the locker room. A restructured deal leaves room for rookie contracts and possibly a free agent later this month

This again proves how much of a team guy ‘No E’ is for his team. Besides his contract money is now guaranteed.

Actually, I think this is written into all contracts, and any team can do this unilaterally. Love Lockett, but he probably has no say one way or the other.

My understanding is teams have the option to restructure players' contracts by converting future salaries to signing bonuses (to lower their current year's cap hit)... and to do so without the player's permission.

They likely let Tyler know as a courtesy, but they didn't need his permission.

No player would refuse restructuring, except, perhaps, one that plays for a team in a high income tax state. Other than that one possible exception, the total income over the life of the contract is, at worst, a wash. If any of the money wasn't guaranteed at the time the restructuring occurred, it increases the player's guarantee.
