The officiating is going to reach a crisis at the level of replacement referees. They're going to have to overhaul the legacy system and go full-time refs with stricter accountability. This game will never be officiated perfectly with the sheer amount of simultaneous action on each play, but it can't be this bad. Trust in the legitimacy of the sport is eroding.
