At this point, sitting at 13-3 and the team controlling their own destiny, is it fair to say this is a Superbowl or bust season? Or do you view this is the 2012 type of season, where this is just the start of something special to come?

In my opinion, I say yes, Superbowl or bust. It’s not often you catch lightning in a bottle with all of these guys on the roster performing at such a high level in unison at the same time.

With JSN and Witherspoon’s contract extensions looming, aging vets like Lawrence and Williams playing at such a high level, I don’t think that this team can afford to miss this opportunity.

What say you?

Yeah anything less then a Championship will feel empty to me. In 2012 we were young and it just felt 1 year away.

I never really approach it like that. After next week, all games will be win or go home.

I'm also not sure I understand the "bust" part of it. I think we'll be in pretty good shape for the next 2-3 seasons at least, and if John can do his magic, it could last even longer. I don't believe they'll fall apart if they don't win it all.

Having said all that, of course I'm rooting for another SB win, we all want that. One game at a time.

I'm in agreement with you but mainly because it's so difficult to get to points like this every season.

Maybe we have the same type of season next year but we just don't know that.

Hopefully, we find a way to get it done next week to get that 1st round BYE so we can rest players and also (more importantly) get players healthier as well as give Kubiak time to review the offense and find better ways to jumpstart it as far as the passing game goes.

Losing Shaheed in this game against the Panthers is not a small blow. :(

We are going to need to lean hard on the running game and also feature AJ BARNER more next week against the Niners.

The bust part of it being the team’s cap situation after resigning JSN and Witherspoon, plus the age of Williams and Lawrence getting to the end of their prime.

And yes, we’re all rooting for them to win it all, I’m just trying to gauge how big of a disappointment it would be if they don’t capitalize this season assuming a pending drop off next season and moving forward.

There is no finality to this season that will be considered a bust on any level.

Winning a playoff game is a win. If we are one and done in the playoffs that would be incredibly disappointing. But not a bust.

A bust would be next season if we roll through the regular season and don’t make it to the big dance.

I’ve been thoroughly entertained so far this season. There has been only one Seahawks football season that I wasn’t disappointed at the end. Even then, I was a little disappointed because there were no more games to watch. But it was a good disappointment.
Watching Seahawks football is my happy place.

I like it!

So would you compare where the team is now on about the same level as the 2012 season? Where they’re building something, and they’ll carry that momentum into next season? Or something else entirely?

I love hearing your guys’ perspectives on this. Go Seahawks!

I feel like they are ahead of schedule. Young and getting better.

It's a new team with a still relatively new head coach and this season was the best in a long time. It's not Superbowl or bust for me.

Nope, if they make it let’s fn go. If they don’t we’re not bust. We’re a young team trending in the correct direction

No I just can't get close to calling this year a "bust" if we don't win it all. Don't get me wrong, any poster on here familiar with my posts will be aware I've been very high on this team's chances all year long, but I think the team is incredibly well set-up to challenge for years to come. This team is hugely young. Sure D-Law and Big Cat might be on the downside of their career, but I wouldn't be predicting a big drop off over the next couple of years. You have exciting young rookies who are going to get better with game experience (Rylie, Nick E, Grey to name a few). In addition, Seattle's cap situation is not in a bad place; I take the point you need to resign JSN and Spoon, this will mean decisions will need to be made about players like Mafe for instance. However, this shouldn't mean this squad isn't in a great position to compete in the years upcoming.

One thing that has gone in our favour this year has been that Seattle has been RELATIVELY injury free; and specifically season ending injuries. We could (fingers crossed) get to a position that in the playoffs we have every defensive starter / main role players fit and available [Coby is the one ?] and on the offensive side missing just 1 WR (Horton but maybe he makes a surprising recovery &/or Arroyo) & perhaps 1/2 depth players (White / Holani).
