Miss Buckner yet?
Miss Buckner yet?
Unless they draft another Purdy, they will be paying handsomely for a Jimmy G return, or another vet. What you don't know about the cap is immense.
Actually they have the 10th most cap room in the NFL with several contracts that are easily converted into bonus clearing up even more cap space AND they don't have a QB eating up huge cap $$$.
CMC not going anywhere.
The only starters they may lose are McGlinchey, Ward and Ebukam. They likely want to improve on McGlinchey anyway.

I watched "The Game" and what I saw was a THIRTYONE to seven beatdown.Did you watch the game?
Brady's art of not getting hurt is his quick release at 2.2 seconds. Jimmy G is at 2.3 sec, Purdy at 2.4 sec, and Lance is 2.8 seconds. Maybe he can help the latter. The rumors are increasingly that Brady will go to Santa Clara As a one year rental To teach up Lance and Purdy on the art of not getting hurt.
Which would mean…
1. The return of Guerrero to invade that an room. Tom Brady swears it’s this guys herbal smoothies and avocado ice cream keeping him injury free.
2. A third year of planned lack of development for Lance or Purdy

He’s had 1 sack in 3 years and that was 3 years agoI don't get it. It's a perfect double team. Kelce timed his hit perfectly for when Kinlaw was fully engaged, and positioned himself perfectly on Kinlaw's side. At 168 pounds, I wouldn't have thrown him that far, but I probably get half that distance.
Not saying that Kinlaw has been great, but he just fell victim to a perfect double team there.
Marvin I have to side with the Seahawk fans here. What has kinlaw done to warrant his selection position? Only playing as a rotational player, some tfls but not many, having to not practice during the week to keep his knee from swelling up, missing multiple games. DT is going to be a position of need this off-season.No defending THAT.
Arik Armstead actually did defend him tho and said that the play was his fault because he was supposed to fill that gap...but you shouldn't be able to move a 330 lb that easily.
Oh, I'm definitely not defending the guy in general, just saying that the play here isn't a huge knock on a guy. It's just a well executed blocking scheme. The timing was impeccable. Not sure what a defender could do to mitigate that. He’s had 1 sack in 3 years and that was 3 years agobut he did have 3 tackles all season this year so he’s improved some. Just keep him the phuck away from our roster when the 49ers cut him

The Niners went all in this season for a reason. Unfortunately, their core is aging, and the current window is closing. Don't get me wrong, they have the youth to do a quick rebuild, but next season is probably their last legitimate shot at Superbowl with Kittle, Armstead, Juszcyk, Ward, etc. playing significant roles. It's sort of reminiscent of the 2015 Seahawks, where Avril, Bennett, Mebane, and Lynch reached the end of their prime. The problem for the Niners is that their QB situation is much messier than ours in 2015.
I dont know about that. Juscyyzk is 31, but Armstead and Kittle are still 29. For example, Travis Kelce is 33. Probably 2-3 more yearsThe Niners went all in this season for a reason. That’s old and aging in football years. Didn’t realize Kittle will be 30 and Deebo 28See...this is the stuff that baffles me.
Who is "aging"?
Trent is 34 and Juice is 31, but whom else are you talking about?
Kittle: 29
Armstead: 29
Deebo: 27
Warner: 26
Charverius Ward: 26
CMC: 26
Greenlaw: 25
Bosa: 25
Aiyuk: 24
Mitchell: 22
Purdy/Lance: 23/22
Hufanga: 22
So...of course players are "aging", but what there makes you think they are aging out of their window?

Unless they draft another Purdy, they will be paying handsomely for a Jimmy G return, or another vet.
Jimmy G will demand something on the order of 37 million per year, on a 4-year contract, with at least half of that guaranteed.
Purdy's injury took the Niners from one of the more attractive QB situations in the NFL (Starter and backup both on rookie contracts, plus a probable comp pick for Jimmy G), to one of the more challenging (Handsomely paid vet plus two rookies that they can't really let go of, plus highly paid vet tackles)
Unless they can work some sort of Goff for Stafford type magic, they won't be in an enviable position.
Given the way Shannahan has tweaked production from his rookies, and his propensity to get QBs injured, I would probably let Jimmy G walk for the comp pick, draft a late round 3rd QB, and spend cap space and draft capital on other positions. I've been waiting for the first team to finally break free from the franchise QB mold, and currently, SF is probably in the best position to do so.
