Gotta admit...that's pretty cool.

I can just see it; a kid sits at the dinner table and asks his dad, "Daddy, how can we get a real NFL football?". A loving father says, "well, I think I know a way", and heads out to the workshop to construct a makeshift goalpost to mount to the boat. He draws-up a sign with a target, then loads up and heads for the boat ramp.

Armed with a PA speaker hooked to the ship-to-shore radio, dad waits patiently until he sees his opportunity. He carefully positions the boat within a reasonable distance from shore and burps the radio to gain attention from the kicking squad but tactfully enough so as not to draw the ire of security. Seeing the effort put into such a creative display of fandom, Hausch sets-up and blasts one toward the boat. "It's good!" and cheers erupt. Dad smile,s and lovingly hands the official pigskin to a smiling son.

"Daddy?" he says, "yes kiddo", "How can we get a player to sign it...?"

The VMAC in general is the Rockwood Lodge of the west coast...and it actually helps the players instead of destroying them.

This is GREAT.

Well...that's almost how it went down....but full disclosure...I think we got some help from the Seattle Times sports editor who just may have forwarded my email request to one Mr. Steven Houschka (big props Seattle Times Sports Guy!). To add to the days' awesomeness (if that's possible) Pete Carroll also threw a ball out to us! At 62 he's still got a pretty darn good arm!!

"The Kick" as it will forever be known in our circle of 12's was GOOD! The uprights are maybe 10 feet wide at the bottom and less at the top and he hit it just inside the right post on the first try. No telling how far away we were but in my book that makes Mr. Houschka still perfect inside 49 yards in ...even with a floating target!!

Haushka pulling out all the stops, as in : "Hey, WTH do I need to do to gain your trust, Pete"?

Still can't get my head around why we weren't playing for a FG to end the half vs, SF. In fact, I was very disappointed that Pete sat on the ball in a game that appeared could go to the wire. We had time, we had time outs and didn't need a lot of yards to put us in place for the final play of the half. Miss it and so what? I have complete confidence in Haushka and (depending on the situation) would put him in @ 55 and under.

HawkWow, that has less to do with Haushka than it does Pete's conservative philosophy. He trusts our defense to keep the score low and so he would rather play it safe on offense than gamble on extra points.
