Other than the momentary grip of fear when I saw #1 about to field the first kick and thought Williams was back, special teams were delightfully boring this week. Darden made good decisions, CAUGHT AND HELD ONTO THE BALL(!), and looked surprisingly competent.

I also noted that we tried to kick the ball out of the end zone instead of landing it on the goal line to prompt a return. Was that respect for DJ Dallas (j/k) or just through f'ing around?

I will be interested to see if we allow returns again the rest of the season, or if maybe they took a week off to focus on bringing on the new guy? Also, interested to see if Jay Harbaugh keeps his job this offseason.

Not every time. Just before half time we kicked it to the 5 were we grabbed it. I thought that was a bit unnessary with 4 seconds left and then thought they were going to use a TO if Arizona were close enough to the goal line for taking a knee to result in a safety.

With about 10 minutes left we had a punted it so it bounced OOB at the 2.

Both of these were great kicks away from the returner which put the Cards up against their goal line wonderful if you can pull it off but increased risk that it end up being caught and you fail to stop the returner until they are well past the 30.
