Best live show I ever saw was Soundgarden, Cornell was just amazing. They were in a zone or something.

One of those shows that's hard to put into words, was a moving experience.

Soundgarden has one awesome song that makes no sense, after that they did nothing.

I enjoy that song but thats all they have.

Wrong . . . they have an entire album that rivals any record ever put out in the history of music (Superunknown). They didn't have many singles because their music is too hard and far too complex (tunings, time signatures, arrangements) for your average knucklehead.

Sorry, two songs. (The day I tried to live)

It doesn't rival Radiohead ever, and I also prefer Nine Inch Nails. Chris Cornell's voice sounds so generic to me.

I get there from Seattle though, thats cool.

Exactly the way pretty much all my friends are thinking. Gates open to the stadium at 2:30, I was told they play around 3pm. Perfect to just watch it from in the stadium, right in front of the Hawks Nest, facing the stage on the North side of the stadium. Don't give a rats butt about the other guy. Soundgarden, what truly matters.

"gonna break my rusty cage... and run".

They just played that at sound check.

Unsure what you are basing this notion on, bro. Are you talking radio play, hits or...? I'm a huge fan of NIN but Reznor, as good as he is, has nothing on Soundgarden, imo. Forget Cornell for the moment and listen to Thayil play guitar. I don't recall NIN ever having anyone like Thayil in their line up. Take away Tom Morello (Rage) and few bands of this genre ever have.

And the guy that asked for Metallica. Just...no. Why do I feel I should always add a trademark logo to the name Metallica? I've been back stage with the band ..once (Honolulu) and would never accept that invite again. Stuffy ass, pretentious, no fun, corporate pricks. Each with their own entourage and limo. It sure didn't hurt their profits, but from that night on, I vowed to never play them on air again. Which is a ton of fun because their fans have to be the most demanding, obnoxious and rabid of all fans. I basked in their hate mail and death threats!

BTW, Monster Magnet embarrassed Metallica that night. Exit light mofos..exit light.

It was unfortunate we had to spend so much time dicking around with Metallica's agent / management that we could only hear Monster Magnet. Never got to see them. But the fan's reactions were clear and I doubt more than 10% of them had ever heard the band before. You know you've put on a show when the audience doesn't know you...yet scream for an encore with the headliner set to take stage. We met them briefly and they were very cool / humble.

We then went out to the front and watched Hetfield (sp?) spit on the audience...much to their pleasure. My understanding was the other guitar player (the better one) was married to a girl from Honolulu, so his quick departure was explainable / understandable. He seemed the coolest of the bunch. In fairness, I should add here, it was their last show coming off a world tour. But most bands we get in that situation really give their all. Like Rage did...at the time, it was their final show together. Had one of them just whispered that tidbit in my ear...I coulda' broke the story and got syndication. LOL.

Soundgarden has always been my favorite of the big 4 that came out of Seattle in the early 90s (Alice In Chains, Nirvana and Pearl Jam). Always felt them to be the most consistently good across their catalogue and to me their music was much more interesting than the other 3. Oh, and "looking California but feeling Minnesota" is one of the great lines ever in rock & roll.

Have seen them twice. VERY good live band. You won't be disappointed today if you're there.
