I'm so done with the subject. If I could say what I think about the city council and the port in this particular forum I'd have to ban myself. :x

This is pretty much it, isn't it? I'd say I can't believe this but we've been here before.

I work in sodo and there's no way there's enough room for an arena plus all the parking. There just isn't. Build the arena on the east side....somewhere

I wish I could shake Chris Hansons hand though, stood strong the storm and obstacles and home town teams whom shall never get support from me ever again, and only mentioned when I laugh when they miss the playoffs some more. Respect to him.

Yep. He's been a standup guy and our crappy city spit in his face.

Chris is good people. I don't know why he perseveres.

Really makes you shake your head that a billionaire trying to show his hometown some love gets turned away. So stupid.

I bet they do the same thing when the Seahawks ask for a new arena within the next decade. Enjoy it while you can boys. The coffee sipping, organically grown, gluten free, humanely sourced, gender less mother intercourse Seattle Council wants no part of Sports or economy growth. Think of all the construction jobs they said no to in addition to the permanent $15/hr minimum stadium workers. Absolute shame.

I've been as optimistic as one can be the past 4 and a half years about the Sonics Arena, I really didn't think the city could screw up such a great deal created by Chris Hansen and his team. I'm stunned right now but considering Seattle officials let the Sonics waltz out of town without a fight 8 years ago I shouldn't of been surprised. What a shame.

Sent some scathing emails to the bitches on the council. I may be going away for a while. As of today I am no longer a Mariners fan. I have yet to hear a viable reason to defend their stance, and I've been searching. Come on over to Bellevue, Chris, water is warm. We are a joke

Just proves that the Seattle City Council are liars and corrupt. Again this isn't nothing new to most of us, now watch them come back with we would support Mr. Hansen investing in the Key Arena Project.

Told you they would pull that shit.

Typical we stabbed you in the back but if you kiss our ass maybe will we let you pay for a new Key arena and develop the Mercer Street Area instead.

Kind of feel it was in life support when the Kings didn't move here and Ballmer bought the Clippers. Since then the NBA haven't exactly been accommodating to Seattle even if the street vacation got approved. More bummed about no NHL. Tukwila is the last hope really, renovating Key arena is a pipe dream.

If they keep proposing Key arena, my question is why can't they just completely raise it and rebuild on the footprint to a higher height? Is it protected? If so why? It's ugly, outdated and isn't architecturally relevant. It's not that old to be worth saving, many building from the 60's are demolished without second though. If it's cause it's in Seattle Center, big deal. The only building anyone inside or worldwide in Seattle center from the world fair that people care or know about is the space needle, the monorail at a stretch. Any new building isn't exactly going to take away from the space needle. If the out there EMP design can't nothing will.

This sucks, but it's not surprising. This whole city is turning to shit, this is what happens when you let one party stay in power for decades. I hate to say it, but the people of Seattle, including Sonics fans, have asked for this with their voting record. It's only going to get worse.
