On that PI call...Announcers I'm listening to said after the QB is out of the pocket a defender can push the receiver like that. Is that a true rule?

Same thing as Sherman knocked someone off back in the day

Once the qb is out of the pocket you can block as if it’s a run play but once he throws the ball PI is in play

These are AFC announcers looking for reasons to make the Broncos look better

Yeah, you guys don’t remember sherm doing that to the Bills back in the day? I was at the game and Sherm just decked a receiver on a pass play. We were all shaking our heads but it turned out Sherm knew the rule! No PI on that play. We caught a break.

Not many people know about it, which is weird. But it is absolutely legit.

It’s a dirty play as striking the back of someone can cause serious injury

Not a dirty play. Same rules as a block apply 🤷🏻‍♂️ but, you know, you’re entitled to your opinion

I'm pretty sure the play you're talking about was a tipped pass. Balls tipped at the LOS take away all PI penalties. Sherman realized it immediately and crushed the WR.

So as soon as the QB leaves the pocket a defender and push a receiver to the ground or out of bounds? How is that a rule and why wouldn't every defender be told to immediately do that and eliminate all recievers?

They should! But they don’t know the rule and they’re not taught it for some reason.
