Should we pay Ifedi?

Most fans are saying no, but if I had to decide today, the answer would be a qualified yes with a team-friendly/incentive laden deal, preferably shorter-term. Unknown if that'll be enough on the open market, but we should try.

As is, he is relatively stable there, and with a coming shakeup over Hunt, the last thing I'd relish is more o-line complications than there need to be.

Yes, but not very much.

I can't see him taking a short, incentive-laden deal if a long-term offer is on the table. I don't know if anybody will be offering him one, but it only takes one team, and he plays an important enough position to garner some interest.

Such a tough call.

He has improved exponentially, however in the back of my mind I would still be wary of throwing big bucks his way.

Best case scenario involves us keeping him at a reasonable price. I want him here......but I wouldnt break the bank to do so.

The gut reaction is no. However, he has improved quite a bit under two years with the new coaching staff. Looking at the impending free agents tackle and guard is not looking good for any team that is looking for vet line help.

The second troubling issuing going into the 2020 season is the team might have to replace 4/5ths of the Oline. We are about to find out if J Jones, Phil Haynes, and Pocic are going to be ready to go.

I think it would be short sighted to let him go easily. Not saying we should open the vaults but paying him a market value contract is not unreasonable given the dearth of OT talent in the league.
It's tough finding a decent tackle anywhere these days.

Things that Ifedi brings: Size, toughness and health
Things that Ifedi still has issues with: technique, footwork
Things that have clearly improved: Discipline

Guy is available and serviceable and really that's better than a lot of tackles playing today. I think it was a mistake to let Okung and Carpenter walk so easily. We scrambled for years to get decent replacements. So while he is far from my favorite player, he's improved every year and has played almost every game. Don't low ball him but don't offer the farm.

Mindset is clearly at play in regards to Ifedi. Much of the fan base still views him as the same player from 2 and 3 years ago. He was clearly better last year and has improved a little more this year. He may just about be at his peak as a player and that level could last the next few years. Definitely worth resigning.

No. Let him walk and hope for some comp pick.

He's peaked as a player and is only playing at an average level this year because it's a contract year.

Still too many penalties and inability to block speed rushers

Ifedi has put up decent stats the past 5 weeks though

idk maybe Wilson is holding on to the ball too long or maybe it's Wilson's scrambling...

I could see a whole new OL with the exception of Brown which sucks and Brown probably only has a year or two left. While Ifedi has been ok lately somebody is going to pay him as if he's really good and if that's the case we need to let him walk. Hopefully we draft a stud OL that can start at RT for a year or two and then switch over once Brown hangs it up.

If he takes a deal that is cheap and team friendly, sure, keep him around for 2-3 years. He's improved over the last few weeks, at the very least his name isn't coming up with huge screw ups. However if he's trying to sniff out a big deal for himself, then no, he can walk.

Trade him for a draft pick and grab Andrew Thomas (OT from Georgia) in the draft.

This is the right approach for him. If he signs elsewhere he can be replaced and if he is paid lotsa the team may well recover a compensatory pick. Over him I'd pay more for Fant.

Unfortunately, somebody will overpay him. Probably the Rams as they are going to lose a lot of depth this coming year.

Some crappy team with lots of cap room..(the Dophins) are a likely destination

Even average tackles that remain healthy are really hard to find right now. You have to re-sign him as long as he isn’t looking for top 5 right tackle money.

Definitely depends on the market for him. I'm not opposed to him coming back, but I can't see locking up much money in him.
