When the side judge clearly signals "down by contact" on Crabtree when he fumbled and the replay clearly shows a fumble (even "Bagdad Bob" admitted this) and THEN the refs change the call to "forward progress" to stop what would have been a sucessful challenge, I think that Sherman and the 'hawks have a gripe.

Even if Seattle doesn't score, it WOULD have stopped a 49ner scoring drive and ultimately decide the game.

I don't think he is blaming the refs, he is saying they had an effect on the outcome.

He's right. The way the refs were officiating prevented Seattle from using their by the book legal "press coverage". That affected the entire game even when no flags were called.

Its becoming painfully obvious the NFL is trying to sell a show.

This game stinks of the Colts game.

No way was the league going to allow Wilson to outshine Luck.

No way was the league going to allow the Seahawks to trample the 49ers once again. Their prize Rivalry.. if 49ers lose, they risk not making the Play-Offs. The NFL wants both story lines in the post-season, they would cash in like crazy with a Seahawks-49er NFC CG.

The main problem I have with both the Colts game and 49ers game, both ref crews called an OPI on Tate after a huge play.

Both ref crews kept pulling out the flags to help advance the opposition down the field especially in crucial 3rd down plays.

Both ref crews clearly were gunning for the Seahawks secondary, yet they chose to disregard if the other team's WRs getting overly physical and pushing off. And chose to ignore similar fouls against the Seahawks WR.

The pattern of calling flags to remove key moments or not being consistent with the calls overall in both games smells like a conspiracy.

How comical, another conspiracy. Let's see the Seahawks are the 2nd most penalized team in the entire NFL. Is it remotely possible that the Seahawks were doing what they have been doing the whole season? Getting tons of penalties, its not just a one game thing. Its now a 13 game thing, or "a trend". Its always something with the Seahawks, the refs, the time of day, the hot weather in Carolina, short week, morning game , night game. Write a letter to NFL an let them know the appropriate time, venue and day youd like to play. Maybe they can accomodate y'all. Im starting to see why you had your NBA team taken away, you have no NHL team and your baseball team is as irrelevent as a AA minor league team. It was a hard fought game between 2 great teams. The 49ers have won 5 out of the last 7 times we have played. There was no reason to think they couldnt win a game against you guys at home.

I didn't see Sherman's statement as "blaming" the refs, he simply was noting that they benefited from the penalties, which was a fact. I also think that the Niners constant whining about the Hawks style of play had a psychological effect on the refs, and kudos to the Niners for that ploy. It sure paid off for them.

Every niner scoring drive was kept alive at some point by a dicey flag. We had several "exposion" plays called back and several drives taken off schedule by penalties.

I disagree that they were all "dicey." Our DB's do play loose with the rules. It's fair to say that the Niners got the benefit of the doubt on some plays. We got away with some on other plays.

I'm not buying the conspiracy either at this point. Although, listening to commentary their weren't too many that were giving Seattle a lot of credit even after killing the Saints. We had a ton of righteous penalties that were good calls, but we also had a bunch of either non calls (holding on Bennett right before he is going to his Kap, who completes a big pass) or bad calls such as the face mask on Lane or the holding on Sherman when the receiver runs into him. Then of course the fumble that was a fumble with the ballcarriers feet pushing him forward (crabtree). There were definitely some game altering calls in this one and they pretty much all went against Seattle.

The Seahawks had 9 penalties and the Niners had 7 penalties. The Seahawks are one of the most penalized teams in the league. Tell Richard Sherman to stop holding and that will eliminate some penalties.

You are insane, we lost the game as we could not take advantage of the turnover and only got a FG out of it, to blame the refs is like a ten year old complaining he did not get the same size of cake as the other kid, suck it up and look forward to the ass kicking we are going to give the Giants.

It wasn't a turnover that set up the FG. It was Tate's punt return. But I get your point.

You're absolutely right about the whining about the penalties. Sure, we had some go against us, but that's the risk we take when we adopt the style of defense we play. There were a number of factors besides the penalties that had game altering implications.

Yes, Tate's return correct, thanks.

My problem with the officiating wasn't that is was lopsided, it was that they would throw flags at non-penalties, and then miss blatant calls. However, this went both ways and our guys need to play more disciplined ball. We lost. Congrats to the 49ers. Let's do it again in January, eh?
