Largent, Walt, Pete, and Russ
This is close to my own thoughts on the subject. Sherman and Earl and RW not far off the pace.Cortez Kennedy
Steve Largent
Walter Jones
Bobby Wagner
I could swap out Wagner for Easley, Lynch and it wouldn't bother me.
The game evolves, but what did Largent have when he retired? Was it 7 all time receiving records?Walt is not debateable, above even Largent, who I agree is not debateable. Walt is in every conversation about the best ever at his position...and wins IMO. Largent was a top-tier WR, but is not the best to ever play.
Walt, Largent, Easley and Tez.
All life-long hawks at the top of their game during their eras. We have had several others that were at the top of thier game...but for me, life-long trumps and tips the scale.
Let me be clear. I LOVE Largent and watched him from his rookie season (I was 8) until he retired. I am fully aware of his records and accolades. In no way am I diminishing his greatness. What I am confident of though is, as great a WR SL was, which he is in discussion of the all time greats...Walt was unquestionably better as a LT...the best to ever play the position IMO.The game evolves, but what did Largent have when he retired? On what was mostly a rag tag, start-up, ground Chuck operation?
It's a position that has shifted, but I think many either forget, didn't notice at the time or underestimate just how good Largent was in his era.
Doesnt that make 6?Jones, Russ, Largent, lynch, Sherman. If I get 5.
That would be my 4. As an also ran list I would add Russ, Pete, Chuck Knox, and people most have never heard of. The originals of the early years. People tend to think the most recent players are better, they are not superior physically per se.The game evolves, but what did Largent have when he retired? Was it 7 all time receiving records?

Interesting to me to see you bring him up. The "All-Time Top 50" voting from Seahawks.com started a few weeks back, and between here and a few other Seahawks boards, I am literally the only person I have seen include him. And I never even saw him play, just from my research of the earlier teams, I had assumed he was a slam dunk. I even asked something on here about him and John Harris, the latter who I had only seen a few scattered votes for.Anyone remember Edwin Bailey, he is the best guard we had beyond Hutchison, who both deserve a spot.
Completely agree. Maybe passing a basic hawks history test to qualify for a vote. j/k...kindaThere's a legitimate argument for Walt over Largent, which I've made myself on a number of occasions when arguing Walt as the greatest Seahawk of all time.
What there isn't a legitimate argument for is leaving Largent off a Seahawks Mount Rushmore entirely. Absolutely insane to me to see multiple entries in this thread without him.
I’d say hutch too if he didn’t leaveThat would be my 4. As an also ran list I would add Russ, Pete, Chuck Knox, and people most have never heard of. The originals of the early years. People tend to think the most recent players are better, they are not superior physically per se.
Zorn and Kreig were heroes of their time, Herrera as Kicker was also. A hall of fame needs space for 22 starters, kickers and special teams players. Anyone remember Edwin Bailey, he is the best guard we had beyond Hutchison, who both deserve a spot.
Walter Jones is likely the best LT ever. I saw them all play, and when Walt gave up a sack or missed a block? ... He gave up sacks NEVER. Tez, Donald, Reggie White, and Alan Page. The newer crop of DE's have a chance at being the best. They are just faster and stronger. Likely from better training.Walter Jones is the best player to ever play for the Seahawks. This is a really tough question outside of Walt. Man, Hutch was great. Largent is a legend. Sherm, Earl and Cam were amazing. How could you leave Tez out. Russ deserves some respect even though I can’t stand him.
