Sources tell me (and no I can’t give up my source), JS emailed the following to Grubb the day he accepted the Bama position.

I’m lying. I have zero sources…except you guys. I do wonder how that conversation with JS went though…

I don't know how this will turn out but I like it a lot. The Seahawks were getting like the movie Groundhog Day living the same day (season) over and over. Things are going to be different this season. It's all going to be fresh and exciting, at least for a while. Really looking forward to the season.

Michigan exposed him. With or without Penix Seahawks offense will struggle at first under this new regime. I like the staff there's just no way they get things rolling year one or even two.
Michigan exposed him because they had superior personnel and a great defensive plan.

Careful what you wish for--they said... hahaha.

I liked all of the presnap motion they used at UW. And he will definitely utilize that in Seattle. DK is about to have a career year as well.

I'm pumped to see what they do at QB in the longterm. Penix is definitely on the table, Rattler is intriging as well.

Oh, Jody! You never cease to amaze me. After sitting on your hands for 4 years, you go and pull this off.

I give this move an A grade. Given what is out there. As the best OCs are all Headcoaches. So the pickings are slim. Hard to do much better than this once this is understood.

What a coaching staff!

The future is bright!

The scheme (Michigan) is just so hard to prepare for if you haven't seen it previously. Whereas they had a full month to prepare for the Texas game, which was clearly a much more advantageous matchup.

It's also why the Ravens had several blowout wins (Lions, Hawks, Texans, Miami). Especially at home.

I'm getting ok with Penix but I really want Rattler if possible. That boy will be a fast mover like Richardson trust me.

Scott Huff has been a perennially good OL coach who was originally a Chris Petersen pupil. Played at Boise State as a center. Moved to coaching under Petersen at BSU. Started at TE coach in 2006, coached the OL from 2007-2009, moved back to TE for 2010-2011 and then added Special Teams Coordinator to his TE coach title in 2012-2013 before shifting back to OL. In Petersen's last year at BSU, he became the co-OC while keeping his OL coach duties.

When Petersen moved to UW, he brought Huff as his OL coach and run game coordinator. When Petersen left, he was retained as the OL coach and has been ever since... until now, as Grubb brings him here.

I cannot see a single stop at which he wasn't at least moderately successful, and he's done fantastic work at UW. That OL is sound and, coupled with synergistic playcalling from Grubb, provided Penix with an excellent cocoon from which he could flourish.
We've assembled the UW crew on offense, a most interesting and unexpected development. Had you told me that at the start of the season, I'd think that you were higher than Snoop Dog and Martha Stewart after a tolerance break.

I think this is a move that has the potential to have big dividends. All that being said, it is quite risky to have this much inexperience at the NFL level. Grubbs was a true terror at the collegiate level.

This is the type of out of the box thinking that'll sink or cause the Seahawks to develop into a Titan.

We're about to have a very interesting draft and offseason. This draft is the thing that has me most excited right now. With the hiring of Grubbs, we now have insider information on both Michigan and UW, the two most potent NCAA teams this year. We also know more than any NFL team could ever hope to about Penix and McCarthy, the two QB's most likely to be available if we decide to go that route.

I wanna be excited. I just can't yet buy into the certainty of the flashy college offense working nearly as well in the pros. From what I understand, we are getting a pass heavy, single read offense? And one that was solved by a defense led by a former NFL coach in the national championship game.

Hope he is adept at scheming a good ground game.

And I'm not at all saying he can't. I just need to see it work. Because from where I sit, I feel like we have an offense that's ready to go, and just handed it to a guy who will have to figure things out at the pro level to realize it's potential.
