The first day winners and losers are out and there isn't 1 article of the Seahawks winning, most of them have JS losing. It's was a rough start, but JS never starts strong, he picks up the scraps later to stay under budget.

It seems that every year, the media dub the Seahawks losers on Day 1 of free agency.
I like this signing, and I like it at this price. Seahawks had to be targeting him for this kind of contract when they gave up picks for him.
Receivers need offseason time with their QB more than any other position. It's hard for a guy to come in mid-season, and display the full effect he will ultimately have.
Shaheed opened up the running game far more than any specific back opened up the receiving game.
Good signing. Good price. Good strategy from Schneider

I saw an article somewhere about how most receivers on a new team typically showed a significant dip in production their 1st year (even a complete 1st season). Should be better things on the horizon.

Have you heard anyone say JS underpaid for Shaheed? No? Hmmm. Right player, wrong price.
JS drops 17 million on a kick returner, but won't pay 15 million for the starting RB and super bowl MVP.
It's fine, JS does a great job later picking up the players that were missed, but he SUCKS on day 1.

I don’t think we even had a chance to match. K9 was unrestricted and 24 minutes after FA began, was gone.
We know we’re going to be gtg at RB.
Can you imagine an off-season with Shaheed and Darnold? Defenses having to face JSN, Horton and Shaheed? That’s downright scary.
K9 isn’t a $15M a year back imo. Love the dude, but that’s steep. Especially when we have an equally good back right now….with a couple of guys we’re crossing our fingers on.
I’m thinking K-Mac will be the next Walker …aka…splitting carries. Dude doesn’t have crazy combine numbers…simply averages over 5 YPC… that’s all.

You did count it as just the games he played here production and not divided by 21 right, also did you account for his yards per return and on punts.

I had him at around $7-8mil a year. This contract surprises me. But its a happy surprise nonetheless. Quality player, quality person......a problem for defenses every time he steps on the field. When you've got a player that teams intentionally avoid kicking to, you know you got a good player. I'll take starting at the 35 every time on a kick off.
That's money right there. Just the effect that he has on the game without even touching the ball.

The 51 million is an inflated number. Like John Clayton always said, the only legitimate number is the guarantee, 34.7 million over 3 years, equals 11.6 million per year. 3 years from now they'll either cut him, or rework the contract.
Then there's this:
Ja'Marr Chase signed a four-year, $161 million contract extension with the Cincinnati Bengals in March 2025, running through 2029. The deal includes $112 million guaranteed and an annual average of $40.25 million, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history!
When the only numbers that matter are the guaranteed numbers. 112 million divided by 4 is 28 million per year.
So expect JSN to get a 4 year contract for 164 million, making him the highest paid non QB in the league at 41 million per year!
In fine print.. with a guarantee of 116 million over 4 years, for an actual 29 million per year, and not the 70 that anime porn would have you believe.
Then there's this:

34.7m over 3 years is not a legitimate number - if we keep him for 1 year, we have to pay him $26m, if we keep him for 2 years we have to pay him $38m and if we keep him 3 years we have to pay him the full $51m, or we pay him $38m plus whatever we restructure for in year 3.

I bet the Patriot fansites had threads exactly like this every offseason while Bellichick was winning SB after SB.
Tough choices..., but I'd be willing to bet there are 0 people here that would have pulled the trigger mid-season giving up 2 picks for an unknown WR from a failing Saints team. That seemed like a terrible trade at the time, until it wasn't. JS and MMac (and probs Kubiak) know what they want to do and we don't.

Next year is probably a better class, where we would want more draft capital.. 11 as it stands now... besides, I'm pretty sure JS had that all figured out
2027 draft is gonna' be a blast. Especially picking at 32 AGAIN.

It’s so easy to go to YouTube and watch his highlights including with the saints. This is not a minor signing he is also a budding superstar. That is not an overstatement, JS has done it in sneaky JS leprechaun fashion once again, all hail the Schneider! If Horton moves forward like nothing happened we will have the best WR corps in the NFL by mid season, look at the highlights he is not 100% integrated into this offense but almost is, and he’s being used as he was early on in NO.
