The ace in the hole now with this wr group is coach Kupp. Oops I spelled Cooper wrong. Sheed and everyone else gets an entire offseason with Darnold. Gonna be fun.

Well, I'm a bit surprised, but happy. It seems to me that fans tend to be 2-3 years behind on how the NFL values players and positions. It's a lot of money, but that's kinda where the market is going.

Coming in at mid-season like he did last year, he didn't have the time to really work with Darnold and develop the timing they need with each other. You could see that in how he could hit JSN on a deep route, but was hit or miss with Shaheed. That should improve with a full off season of OTAs and training camp working together.

Our offensive strategy has been run the ball and hit the deep strike on play action. Very Ground Chuck-like. But I like the creativity we were seeing in the run game last season. I hope we can continue that with the new OC.

Might be a bit much but he almost guarantees that we start at the 35 because teams just don't want to kick to him and he can break one at any time. Definitely needs to be more involved in the offense but an offseason working with Sam, JSN and Cupp should help with that. Was on pace for 88 receptions and 1,000 yards before he was traded to Seattle.

Its a lot, but I get it. We need a deep threat and Darnold is really good at deep shots too. Hopefully they develop some chemistry in the offseason. We can't let everyone walk. We don't have enough draft picks to replace everyone.
No doubt we will have some late signings as well.

Per ChatGPT, that's actually a mid-tier WR salary. Top-tier is 28-40 mil.
Yeah, my expectations for salary might just need to catch up to inflation here. Definitely looks better when looking at his peers at this salary: Kupp, Shakir, Jeudy, Christian Kirk, etc.

If you look up WR salaries here, it may not be an overpay.

Jerry Jeudy and Wandale Robinson are both around 17M/. Next in line after Cooper Kupp are Khalil Shakir, Rashod Bateman, and Darius Slayton. I dunno 'bout y'all, but I'd rather have Shaheed than any of those guys (and others I didn't mention with annuals of 20M+).

How does our WR corp benefit by having the same #3/#4 WR who failed to do anything with us last year?

21 yards per game = 17M?
Failed to do anything?

Do you even watch the game

He started the come back against the Rams. Team was dead until that.!I doubt they won the SB if they lost that game.

He also won the game against the 49s even before the game started.

There were other game changing moments

So yeah he failed to do anything lmfao

The truth is always in how much of the contract is guaranteed and how it's laid out. The cap hit this is year is probably less than $17M. If I have to find any sort of negative in this at all, with our top 3 guys now signed, fan favourite (including me) Jake Bobo may not be back.

To add to your list, he got us off on the right track with the bomb from Darnald in the NFCCG setting up the first TD. In the TNF comeback he also had a big play on an end around right before the Barner TD.

Something the negative Nancy's might be overlooking......Due to new kickoff rules, the kickoff returner is now a legit weapon. And if they want to avoid him, we'll start at the 35 all day. Hes also already delivered a couple years around 50/800 catching balls from putrid QBs in New Orleans. Playing a full season with Darnold should easily get him close to 1,000, as defenses focus more on JSN.

Let me try, too :

Okay good.

Twitter links kept NOT being embedded for....reasons.

Anyway....UNFRIGGIN' BELIEVABLE!! 200

I was hopeful but was resigned to the idea of us losing Rasheed as well as Walker.

Him being here means that we still have INSURANCE in case Horton gets hurt again.

If he stays healthy, then we have a very dynamic trio of WRs for Sam to throw to (as well as a dynamic KR/PR'er).

Hope Sam does with Sheed what he did with JSN and the other receivers where he took them somewhere and they developed chemistry going forward.

ME HAPPY!

He did nothing as a WR. Do *you* watch the games? They had to try to force him into the game same as when they traded for Harvin, and even ran the same stupid reverses. He was a terrible fit for our offense, and to re-sign him after watching him fail his audition is a serious error in judgment from Schneider.

He is the 4th or 5th best WR on our roster. Name one other team that even pays their 3rd best receiver $17M. There is no way to justify his salary, and it will raise JSN's asking price.

If Shaheed is worth $17M, JSN is easily $60M

I can't believe it took 17 mill per year to keep a return guy and a deep threat. No doubt he must have gotten offers in this range if thats what we paid. Holy smokes!
I remember suggesting before hearing the news that he and the Hawks weren't close on a deal, that should the Hawks (JS) be unable to retain Walker, he will use some of that money to re-sign Shaheed.

Looks like that DID come to fruition after all.
