How about some more stats from 2024?
  • Numbers under center %: Geno (29th), Darnold (3rd)
  • Play action yds/attempt: Geno (34th), Darnold (5th)
  • Passer rating: Geno (19th), Darnold (6th)
  • % of completion for 1st down or TD: Geno (24th), Darnold (5th)
  • Yds per completion: Geno (23rd), Darnold (6th)
  • Passing TDs per attempt: Geno (32nd), Darnold (7th)
  • Air yds/attempt: Geno (30th), Darnold (11th)
  • Attempts beyond 5 yards: Geno (32nd), Darnold (4th)
  • Average depth/target: Geno (30th), Darnold (11th)
  • Completion 25 yds (+): Geno (14th), Darnold (1st)
  • Redzone Tds: Geno (14th), Darnold (4th)
  • Both players were about the same when having a clean pocket. They were also very similar when they were pressured.
  • They both faced about the same amount of pressures last season.
  • Most damning is passing rating when pressured: Geno (60.5 rating), Darnold (87.1 rating)
This makes me feel even better about Darnold if he comes here

I don't disagree with that. I feel like the two are virtually the same and we are trying to make points to which is better. We traded Geno for a 3rd because, that's how we view him. Minnesota is letting a 14-win QB walk away instead of paying him minimal vet starter money because that's how they view him.

My favorite new PFFism is Jaxson Dart is their second highest rated college QB by the slimmest of margins below Cam ward and he's their 6th rated QB in the draft behind guys including Howard and Leonard who's own fanbases don't want them drafted in the mid-late rounds.
Not a big Darnold fan but Vikings would love to have him back at vet minimum.
Not sure why you said they view him like that. They already said they like him and want him back.
No one will be signing him for vet minimum though.

Bob Condotta had reported the Seahawks made an offer earlier in the week which can be found on X and from what I have heard it was in the $40-45 million APY range the offer was declined by Smiths camp.
If that's true, then Smith is a fool, and if he thinks he's worth 50 mil, then he's a delusional fool, and if he actually gets offered 50 mil, then the Raiders are even bigger fools than he is.

In a vacuum, this makes sense. But context matters. Vikings have a young, highly drafted, QB just waiting in the wings. That would skew your comparison of how the teams view each QB, though, so I get why you didn't bring it up.
He's also 22, coming off season ending injury in training camp that required a second surgery. I'm sure the Vikings have seen enough to be comfortable with him to let a QB that's just won 14 games walk away when, if you believe reports/rumors he would have a very sought after trade market. If they had a ton of confidence in Darnold they'd flip McCarthy and continue to build around Darnold and say thanks for the lottery ticket. But you make a fair point.

I never said vet minimum.

Hawkblogger stated the seahawks were 32nd in pass blocking and Vikings were 30th

Any idea how Hawkblogger arrived at those rankings? Because the Vikings OLine had the 2nd highest pass block win rate in the league.

Don’t care much for Darnold but don’t really see that much of a drop off between him and Geno.

Geno was in year 9 before his breakout and that was with getting two years of work and getting comfortable with his team and all that as a backup behind Russ.

Darnold was in year 7 last year when he finally broke out and was basically thought of as just a hedge and if McCarthy doesn’t get hurt would Darnold still had been the guy?

So I do like Darnold in a vacuum in just replacing Geno but honestly it’s not up for me to decide whether I like him or not, that responsibility is really up to Kubiak and if he feels Darnold is a great fit for not only his system but if Darnold is a guy that his also coachable. And it feels they feel Darnold fits both parameters. So I’m fine with it.

I’m not sure but he’s not the only one reporting it. I’m watching good will hunting or I’d find it and post it

Just seems odd. 2nd highest pass block win rate in the league, but somehow the 3rd worst pass blocking line? Add to that all the different sources that rank OLines have them at least in the top half of the league, if not top 10, and if you read the analysis it's not because of their run blocking.

Is Darnold a mobile QB, can he run? I honestly don’t know, I didn’t really watch any of their games until the playoffs…even with a great record they seemed like a boring team to me. Maybe that’s just me…

I’ll believe Darnold signs with Seattle when I see it. Everything I’m reading/hearing is smoke without any fire.
