I'm calling BS on the whole Darnold idea who the fock is Dianna Russini anyway? It's Poppycock.
I could see them pulling the okey-doke and signing someone like Justin Fields instead.I'm calling BS on the whole Darnold idea who the fock is Dianna Russini anyway? It's Poppycock.
Fields is so bad I don't see that happening, but I get the head fake take. I think it's somewhat likely. Or maybe the plan is to rent Darnold for a year and draft the kid they like.I could see them pulling the okey-doke and signing someone like Justin Fields instead.
I thought Fields looked pretty good for Pittsburgh last year until ME3 had to come along and try to be the hero.Fields is so bad I don't see that happening, but I get the head fake take. I think it's somewhat likely. Or maybe the plan is to rent Darnold for a year and draft the kid they like.
My guess is this; The FO probably sees Darnold as being comparable to Geno Smith. The difference here is that there is more wiggle room to structure the contract for an easy out. Darnold is going to have a heavily incentive based contract wherever he goes. In addition to this, whatever contract he signs will make it easy to get rid of him. A lot more room to play around with the contract and make some sneaky accounting measures due to Darnold's lack of success prior to 2024.Well if you wanted to destroy any hope for the coming season...signing Darnold to a big contract would be a great way to do it.
Didn't the Jets have Darnold and a great Defense? Is our goal to replicate that?
DK is available in a trade I am sure JS would be happy to talk trade with the BearsDarnold showed his colors in the playoffs. Spend the Geno money to upgrade the rest of the roster and draft a QB.
Some Bears fans want to trade the #10 pick in first round.
Hawkblogger is on some serious copium here. The quick pressure difference is massive.Wait a minute, so Darnold is at the same level as geNO? omg, he will be an instant darNO the second he signs with the Hawks.
I hope the plan is to draft a kid they feel is worth a shot regardless who they get to start this year.Fields is so bad I don't see that happening, but I get the head fake take. I think it's somewhat likely. Or maybe the plan is to rent Darnold for a year and draft the kid they like.
Darnolds PFF grade when he has less than 2.5 seconds is better than Geno’sHawkblogger is on some serious copium here. The quick pressure difference is massive.
Having a good rating under pressure because you were able to hold onto the ball forever which allowed pressure to get to you but now Jettas is wide open deep is completely different than adjusting to quick pressure, of which Geno has faced the most in the NFL over the last 3 years. (Darnold targeted JJ on 41 passes under pressure, the most of a single QB to any 1 target in the league.)
These 'pass block grades' that show Minny as nearly as bad as us when their Time-to-Pressure rate was sitting in the top 10 and ours in the bottom 5 makes me wonder what these people (I'm assuming this grade comes from PFF) think pass blocking is for.
I don't care if Minny's IOL looks like garbage while holding their blocks for 2.5 seconds as long as they hold them... which they did the 2nd most often in the league. (2nd in PBWR)
For context, Darnold averaged the longest time in the pocket ever measured by NFL Next Gen Stats, which goes back to 2016. So, the Minny O-Line buys this dude the most pocket time in the last 9 years, but apparently they were trash?
Like, did Hawkblogger not watch the playoff game against the Rams or something? He's not challenging the narrative with facts, he's just making it seem like he's watched very little tape of Darnold play.
(For the record: Still mostly think Darnold is our best option as long as his contract isn't too bad.)
Derek Carr's PFF player grade is higher than Patrick Mahomes. Geno Smiths PFF player grade is higher than Mathew Stafford's and Sam Darnold's. PFF is dumb.Darnolds PFF grade when he has less than 2.5 seconds is better than Geno’s
Fair point I hate PFF lol but I think this idea that Darnold is terrible under pressure so he’s doomed for failure here is also kind of dumbDerek Carr's PFF player grade is higher than Patrick Mahomes. Geno Smiths PFF player grade is higher than Mathew Stafford's and Sam Darnold's. PFF is dumb.

Bob Condotta had reported the Seahawks made an offer earlier in the week which can be found on X and from what I have heard it was in the $40-45 million APY range the offer was declined by Smiths camp. I feel he wanted to get back with PC for his last contract which I am pretty sure he holds in very high regard
My thoughts is Geno would have extended with the Seahawks if PC hadn’t been hired by the Raiders and there is nothing the Seahawks could have done money was a non factor
I don't disagree with that. I feel like the two are virtually the same and we are trying to make points to which is better. We traded Geno for a 3rd because, that's how we view him. Minnesota is letting a 14-win QB walk away instead of paying him minimal vet starter money because that's how they view him.Fair point I hate PFF lol but I think this idea that Darnold is terrible under pressure so he’s doomed for failure here is also kind of dumb
