Brian is the special teams coach.

That blocked kick returned for a TD was dreadful as was the "fake whistle" at the SF game.

We can't be allowing this to happen. Those points last week were the game difference.

This article mainly focuses on Kearse and his roles on the team but I wanted some input from you guys on what you think of both....special teams, and Schneider.

His special teams also blocked a punt which we all know was a TD. Did last season vs Dallas for a TD also plus the blocked FG vs SF that Sherman returned for a TD. Then there was Leon's kick return TDs.

If you want to point out the mistakes make sure you give him credit where deserved. I think special teams is the least of our concerns. They have been good.

I think we have good special teams,...the injuries and inexperience on the OL must be playing a part in some breakdowns, but overall I think they do an above average job

The blocked fg for td was bad but I don't see how the fake whistle was his fault in any way. I think our ST's have been great for the most part and see nothing wrong there. Our returners consistantly give us good field position and our coverage teams are pretty consistant in containing the other teams returns. I am not sure who all plays on the O line on ST's but I would imagine they are mostly the same outside of the the center so that could very likely play a part on the blocked fg. Also, they did fine on the other fg's that game so they made the needed adjustments and/or the colts made a good play there.

Didn't read the article, but breakdowns occur. Shit just happens. I put the blocked FG on that list for now. Overall, ST has been pretty good IMHO. If there are more breakdowns on ST, than yeah, I'll start thinking that way, but for now I'll call it an anomaly and assume the coaches are working on it.

One of the things I like/worry about on ST is that our coaches are not afraid to put our starters out there. Holmie hated to do that and it showed. His ST were a bit of an afterthought and we lost a few games along the way because of it. Our current coaching staff seems to have a better plan than Holmie did.

We've had one of the best ST groups for awhile. A breakdown is going to happen. Let's be thankful it's usually our team that's getting the better of the other

Long FG attempts get blocked sometimes, it happens, the angle the kicker has to boot the ball for those extra 10yds means it flies lower over the heads of the lineman and players trying to get a hand up to knock it down, its just one of those things that happens sometimes.

We have one of the best special teams units in football, and it's been that way for the last couple of seasons. There's a reason no one talks about it. It's just consistently good. Fluky stuff happens sometimes. This is the very last of our concerns IMO.

Football Outsiders consistently ranks us in the top 5 in special teams, and we're #4 right now even after last week's blocked FG.

Special teams is not a problem at all.

We have problems with the o-line, q-back and receiver play because of the o-line, linebacker coverage in the middle of the field, and a few others. Special teams play has been the best part of this team.

Agree 100%. I also think that this is the main reason we still have guys like Maragos and Farwell on the roster. They seldom see the field on a regular defensive series but they are both absolutely amazing ST guys! Trying to fix what went wrong on that single FG is just an exercise in futility. If it were happening every week then its another story.

What he, and others here said. Special teams have been excellent, offensive line, not at all.

If you have a team that makes multiple mental mistakes on special teams you have the Chargers a few years ago where Leon kept light them up on returns, I don't see the mental errors on special teams, I don't know but I think the rest of the teams in the league also have professional athletes on their teams and they get paid to perform just like ours, sometimes they win.

If giving up 2 touchdowns 2 weeks in a row on special teams is OK, then I guess I don't know much about football. It doesn't matter how, or why they happened, but that they DID.

One of those gave us our only loss.

"Seattle had gone 15 years without allowing the opponent to score off a Seahawks' field-goal attempt. It has now happened in successive games."
