Boy, those were the days. So successful and everyone here hated him. Sad really.

Not me. I liked the dude.

Didn't boo him either when he lost a step at the end.

Definite throwback. A great era of Seahawks football. But a new one awakens.

I loved him. Honestly can't stand most of the people who were always raggin on Hass and Alexander.

2 of the best in franchise history ,and they gave us some damn good times and took us to the first superbowl in team history. I will always have a spot in my fandom heart for them.

yeah, I figured you guys would appreciate that. The awesome thing about SI Vault is that you can "leaf" through every single issue, so I highly suggest you guys read the article and Alexander and the Hawks in that particular issue. I will post more Seahawks Flashbacks in the future.

I loved Shaun Alexander. Just because he had a sudden light switch drop off in production after injury doesn't give me amnesia from all the wonderful memories.

I absolutely loved Shaun. It just irritated me how he tanked after his big payday... That and the fact he shied away from contact. He was the anti beast-mode. Imagine that 2005 team with Lynch behind that World-Class O-line! Gives me shivers thinking about it!

actually, I find many of these posts instructive. I had no idea that so many Hawks fans disliked Alexander when he played for ya'll. I always assumed he was one of the most popular players on your team back then. (I am referencing the first few posts in this thread, which implied-or outright stated-that many Hawks fans "gave Alexander a hard time" or expressed displeasure with him, while he was here). Was there REALLY a contingent of Hawks fans which disliked Shaun??!!!

You and I are in the vast minority in this regard.

Guys, someone PLEASE explain this observation to me?!!!^^^^^ Did most Seattle fans REALLY turn on Alexander at some point in his career?! WHAT is with all of these comments about Hawks fans booing Alexander and giving him a hard time??!! Can someone please explain what happened?! He was one of the best players you guys ever had! What happened to the undying loyalty of the 12th man?!

Count me in with you guys. Shaun was and always will be my favorite player from that era.

I try not to 'hate' on anyone.
I look at the Shaun thing as he did great behind an outstanding line, but TiMMy! Paid the wrong guy!
I don't blame losing Hutch on Shaun, but if Russkell hadn't paid Shaun...They keep Hutch, and plug in another running back.
For that team to make it to the dance, knowing what we know now about the upper management squabbles going on.
It was amazing...
Shaun lost me when he didn't play in the playoff game against Washington.
Seeing him jumping around cheering on the sideline, while Hass carried the team...
The whole 'stabbed in the back' thing didn't help.
But the sitting out a playoff game, 'Game Over Man'.

yes sir. he was quite the polarizing figure. You either felt strongly that he was one of the all time great RBs (some would even argue HOF worthy) to play the game and that we were fortunate to have him as an anchor to our offense while he was here. Or, you thought he had talent, but was soft and largely the beneficiary of one of the best O-lines and offensive schemes in NFL history.

He started to get a reputation for avoiding contact or going down easily at (or prior to in some cases) the first hit. Often a feast of famine type situation, particularly later in his career, just prior to his big payday and string of injuries.

Whichever side you came down on, its hard to argue the guys resume.

No you (we) are not. It just so happens that the chuckleheads tend to be a lot louder.

I love seeing the Whiner he is running over in that picture. Something that our resident trolls seem to forget. (how they were basement dwellers in the NFC west for quit a few years and it wasn't that long ago)
