A potential owner is probably not looking for profits, but for tax deductions and a long-term capital investment.

Profits from operations are only ~150M/yr. Not even close to worth a $6-8B investment.

However, 95%+ of the purchase price is tax deductible over 15 years. Then when the investor cashes out after massive ongoing appreciation, taxes are paid at lower capital gains rates. TVM analysis shows that buying an NFL team is an unparalleled investment for those with huge $ - low risk, HIGH reward.

Pros:
1. Get HUGE tax write offs.
2. Get small "dividends" every year.
3. Large financial return with all taxes deferred until the asset is sold, then taxes are paid at a highly reduced rate.
4. Social cachet.
5. Great seats.

Cons:
1. Opportunity cost, but good luck finding a better opportunity.

This is also why it's attractive to PE. Hopefully, the NFL keeps PE out to prevent the destruction that too often follows.

Yes they did, why because he pissed off the NFL, second he had the Generals and basically created a huge imbalance with the league paying players money nobody else could afford, didn't care it was a fledgling league, he wanted a championship whatever it cost.
His family could, in theory, try to buy the team. He loves trophies!

drama drama drama

This isn't even news. We all know the team will go up for sale at some point. And it's going to be awhile.

Besides, doesn't it usually take roughly 6-12 months from Initialization to Finalization for a deal to go through?

People are acting like the team will change ownership immediately after the SuperBowl. lol

The trust, closeness, the matching outfits, the chemistry! All in the rearview mirror soon; what has been leading to win the Super Bowl this year will hit that reset button the second Alleneider lift the Lombardi Trophy. With that, I am wearing a black shirt for the game and celebration.

Next year will be very different. 1769978071882

Does anyone have a copy / legitimate source for will? I would like to confirm your memory

Some clarity as to the future ownership of the Seahawks was revealed via an NFL.com report Sunday morning. It said the team is expected to be sold by Paul Allen’s estate with proceeds going to his foundation, and the team staying in Seattle.

Allen’s sister, Jody, has taken a more visible role with the team since Allen’s death on Oct. 15, with Allen’s good friend, Bert Kolde, the vice chairman of the team, retaining his role.

To be honest, I do not see how the Seahawks would ever move even with a new owner? Just from what has been established from the exposure of the Seahawks success in Seattle. The Seahawks are the most successful team with in its divison since moving to the NFC West.Multiple division championships,Superbowl appearances with a Superbowl victory and possibly another? If the Seahawks move to another part of the country? there might have to be another realignment of the divisions? It just would be a logistical nightmare if they move elsewhere unless to somewhere on the west coast?Seahawks home games are sold out, season tickets has a waiting list spanning years. Then you have 12's it is a brand that's recognized all over the world and how it’s a fixture of the Pacific Northwest and in Seattle for the last 50 years.
You don't fix what’s not broke.
