As mentioned, it ultimately is in the hands of the NFL owners group. Why would they mess with a good thing? There is no market to move the team to.

Side note: In the 1990s, our current president tried to buy the Bills and they iced him out. So, maybe not ALL about money.

I haven't read all the posts in this thread, but a friend of mine said that Brock Huard had suggested that this could all be a rumor that Robert Kraft planted in order to cause a distraction prior to the Super Bowl. Wouldn't that be something if they unraveled yet another Patriots' cheating scandal: Spygate, Deflategate, and now....Forsalegate? Doesn't seem to have a ring to it.

The star ownership group is not out of the question tho.

RW3, Tom Brady, A-rod, Ryan Gosling, Matt Hass, on and on with joint ownership of pro sportsteams. Prestige.

This is a pretty funny sentence on several counts.
2014, not the 90s. Der.

Tho I think he tried to buy a team in the 90s too. Not a lot of respect among his peers.

It's a nice deflection from Kraft being mentioned in the epstein files. The giants co owner is too

The drop off from Paul Allen to just about anybody else who could buy the team these days is steep. Paul Allen was a unicorn owner, an actual billionaire who, beyond respect or envy for his wealth and achievements, was actually someone you could like and admire as a human being.

I remember hearing/reading a while ago from decent sources that the NFL (owners, etc...) would like to have Bezos amongst its ownership. I share many posters real dislike if not disdain of Bezos, but I think just about anyone wanting and capable of buying the team is going to be a turnoff in some way. Can anyone actually come up with a name of a potential buyer who'd clear that hurdle?

Wonder if it would cause any conflicts of interest with Thursday night football?

Seems to me that Paul Allen did it for the 'right' reasons, basically a contribution to the city, along with some other things he did including at the Seattle Center. That the sale proceeds will go to charity underlines that good intent. I found it a touch hopeful that Jody said on stage that the Championship win was 'For the city.'

Unfortunately I saw something posted that Paul had an association to Epstein, along with of course a lot of $Bs. I think we can find fault with almost any mega-$B, including their political and whatever else supports, am hopeful though that a buyer can be found who is 'big' enough to do it for the 'right' reasons - as Paul did.

Theoretically, the trust could sell it to Jodie... could it not?

Try this on for size... the trust could sell it to Jodie's charity... something like the Let's Keep the Seahawks in Seattle in Perpetuity Organization... and then the charity, with Jodie as the CEO, could buy the team from the trust using the proceeds of the sale... to the mutual benefit of everybody in the Seattle metropolitan area. Thereafter, the charity owns the team.

And in the future, the Charity sells lottery tickets to determine who gets to attend and sit in seats not currently held be season ticketholders... on a game-by-game basis... and the proceeds of those lotteries would be distributed by the Charity to grassroots charity organizations in the Seattle area... problem solved!!
Lol it’s a nice thought but I doubt Jody Allen will be open to the idea of a clear hack and workaround that clearly violates the spirit of what Paul Allen put in his will

Yes they did, why because he pissed off the NFL, second he had the Generals and basically created a huge imbalance with the league paying players money nobody else could afford, didn't care it was a fledgling league, he wanted a championship whatever it cost.

Mark Cuban, good for players, good for franchise, good for fans. Look at what he did with the Mavericks.

I actually thought about him. But he wants absolutely nothing to do with owning an NFL franchise. He HAS expressed a lot interest in owning a MLB team, though. Please take ownership of the M's.
